Ethic is the word that comes from the Greek word ''ethos''. Ethos?means "character" that is used to describe the balance between caution, passion, and a set of moral principles that determine right or wrong behavior.
To reach the positive ethic, the moral virtue, you need to achieve and control the balance. Aristotle in his Nicomachean Ethics books gives us a map and a navigator for that purpose.
First of all, Moral virtue is a conscious choice. Question yourself. Am I a self-starter? Do I have self-starters in my organization? Do I want to be a self-starter? Do I want to create and develop self-starters?
Some are in the business because they have potential. But the ones who thrive in the business because they have the intangible skill of work ethic, the inner balance, and they work on it every day.
Let's see the 2 most significant behaviors you need to reach the balance.
Achieve timeless Courage is the most difficult mission you have. It's a battle between your fears and your confidence. If you or your team rest on the potential and credentials you have, or on awards and achievements then you will never get to the balance point you need to be.
You need to gain two forms of Courage. The Courage of Endurance and the Courage of Action. This is a battle with mirrors. Adopt the following 4 work habits.
2. Temperance

Temperance is connected with Courage because is a mean with regard to pleasure and effort (pain). And when we aim to obtain a timeless Work Ethic, is the moment, when the Courage of Endurance helps us to balance with Temperance. Pleasures and efforts are divided into those of the soul and of the body, and always the temperate person desires things that are not impediments to health.
You need to gain two forms of Temperate. The Temperate of Mind and the Temperate of Body. This is an alliance of cells and nerve cells. Adopt the following 3 work habits.
With those daily habits, you can empower your Work Ethic, or your organization's Work Ethic and add them to your business culture. But furthermore, more questions become: Are some organizations recruiting with the best criteria for work ethic? Are some organizations better at cultivating a culture of work than others? Or does their success lead to work? Οr is it a two-way situation?
Even in the same environment, Work Ethic does not remain static but evolves. The challenge in this era of highly educated people is convincing them to wait their turn and inspire them, that's a two-way benefitted chance.
The elimination of deficiency or excess is the beginning of change and growth, at individual and organizational levels.
