How not to raise children

The country has become silent. Well not really as the traffic can still be heard, but people have become deadly silent as the sound of talking has been replaced by the stares of countless drones gazing into their electronic devices, transfixed within another world. It fills me with a deep resounding sadness, particularly when I see alolescent addicts possibly ?some teeing themselves up for a painful death from electronics-induced cancer not so many years forward.

I recall the school playground at breaktime: Groups of ?girls huddled together whispering and giggling, boys chatting about last weekend’s match; their planned eighty mile cycle ride for the forthcoming weekend; and my pal Paul’s stories as to how he had reached Mary’s suspender belt but planned to soon forge on ?further. These day’s would Paul’s grandchildren have the time for such expeditions? ??Or would Gozmo’s siege of the castle ever be over?

Those conversations one used to hear before mass addiction swept through the country are now merely distant echoes, faintly tinkling bells on the wind, perhaps imagined nonsense……did people really? used to chat? Did I really used to routinely arrive at omnibus stops? and be able to strike up conversations with strangers - alert open strangers with a willingness to interact with the world? ????

Could someone please explain as to how electronics have improved the world?
