How to raise the bar on your wellbeing strategy!

How to raise the bar on your wellbeing strategy!

It was great to gain experience from so many HR leaders yesterday at CIPD London Wellbeing event. The topic of Wellbeing strategy and the weather were hot on the agenda.

Here is a snippet of what we learnt...

41% of organisations have seen an increase in stress amongst their staff while absenteeism is at an all time low and presenteesim is hitting 72%. 'Isn't it time to focus on the HUMAN element of Human resources?' asks Peter Cheese, CEO of the CIPD.

How, you may well want to know. Well, firstly it needs to be more than just a gym membership, a wellbeing day or a bowl of fruit. All these things can add value but individually then are nothing but an incentive, which without joined up approach will not rectify the bigger issues at hand.

PSYT, sponsors of yesterday's event, have created a platform that improves wellbeing by measuring and engaging with the organisation using digital technology. Recently they came up with some interesting statistics.

·        People who had exercised in the last 48 hours for more than 20 minutes saw their stress levels fall by 4% while their productivity and happiness levels grew by 4% and 6% respectively.

·        Lack of sleep (less than 6.5 hours) did exactly the opposite to stress, productivity and happiness.

·        Employees want to feel happier and their employers want them to be more productive.

So having a wellbeing strategy will benefit both, the staff and the organisation.
