We all like reading stories. Stories about changing the world and creating a positive impact. This is a story about how the Robotics & Automation Club - CEME NUST (RAC) helped a mother's dream become a reality.?
The story goes something like this... :?
It was in early November here in Pakistan, winter was starting, and it was a good sunny day. The time was around 12:20 pm. I was sitting in a classroom at the university taking an "Industrial Electronics" lecture. Rather I was giving a quiz. During the quiz, I received a call from an unrecognized number. I thought maybe someone from my RAC Event Management team is calling because that day the event management team had a tea meeting. I attempted the quiz and came out of the class to go to the meetup. While on the way to the meeting I received the call once again. Still, the number was unknown, but I picked it up and responded. It was a lady's voice which very much sounded like the voice of one of my teachers at the university. Thinking it was she who was calling me made me a bit nervous because who wouldn't get nervous from hearing that teacher call you? :) But as the lady talked further I got to know it is not the teacher who was calling me which was a relief, and I eased a bit. The lady was a mother of two children who are just about 9 and 11 years old. They are home-schooled. To provide her children with the best education the mother bought Lego Mindstorm kits for her children to learn the skills of robotics, automation, logic building, and programming starting at a young age. She has been trying and searching for the past 2 years to find a student who would teach her children how to build robots using these LEGO Education kits but was unable to find a person willing to help her children even when she was willing to pay.

Even after 2 years of her quest in finding a person who would teach her children robotics she did not give up. She kept searching and found on the internet that there is a club called "Robotics and Automation Club" at NUST. As the President of the club, she rang me to talk to me about how she has been tirelessly trying to find someone who would teach her children the skills of the future but was unable to find one. She asked me for help in this regard. The way she requested me made me feel like my own mother, requesting me to do something for her. A mother doesn't need to request. So it was my responsibility to make sure she gets all the help she needs to help her children learn and grow. So after the tea meetup, I selected one of the team members at the club for helping the lady. I selected the team member based on his extensive experience in making robots using lego kits. I shared his contact with the mother. The mother was so relieved to hear that she had finally found an opportunity in form of a person who was willing to teach her children how to build robots. She has had extensive talks with that student and has expressed in a recent meeting with him how other children in their community may also be willing to learn to make robots.
There is nothing more satisfying in life than to know that you helped someone's dream become a reality. The hard work I and the team at RAC have put into building this club in the past 4 months provided the opportunity for the mother to teach her children the skills of robotics and automation. Had we not put in the effort in building the club the mother would have never contacted me and would have never had her dream of teaching her children to learn robotics become true easily. The love of a mother for wanting the best for her children and her dream all came true because the team at RAC performed their duties to build the club. Each task the team performed contributed towards the growth and success of the club. We may not have changed the entire world, but changing the world starts with one lady, one mother, her children, one family, and one community, and we have with this story changed the world or started that change. We believe that those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are?the ones who do.

2 年THIS is the reason I go to university every day, wondering whom I can help today. I love the final note on the essay. True, one person cannot change the world, but he can start with one mother and one child, and that will eventually change the world. More power to you sir! Eager to read more stories like these in the future.
