How to Quickly Find and Apply for Tech Internships

Tech Lovers, Tech Internship Seekers, this article is made for all of us,

Welcome back to another edition of Midnight Tech Diaries. It's been long, but I'm back for this month's edition. As we navigate through the tech world, finding the right internship quickly is crucial. Tonight, we'll explore effective tools and strategies to help us all secure those opportunities.

1. Set Up Job Alerts

Start your internship search by setting alerts on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed. Customize these alerts based on your interests and preferred locations to get notifications as soon as new internships are posted.

2. Network! Network! Network!

The importance of networking cannot be overstated! Networking is key. Attend tech events, hackathons, and seminars. Make connections with professionals on LinkedIn and reach out to discuss internship opportunities. Often, the best chances come from connections. A while back I created a video about different tech conferences you can attend you can check it out and save it for future references, I will also repost it so it is more visible.

Also, if you know you attending this year Grace Hopper Celeberation with AnitaB.org please feel free to connect or reach out to me, as I will be attending this year and I am super grateful and excited.

3. Check GitHub for Internships

GitHub has many resources where people share internship listings, such as the "Awesome Internships" or "Tech Internship Jobs" repositories. These are updated regularly by the community, offering a steady flow of new opportunities.

Here are the links????

4. Sign Up for Company Alerts

Keep an eye on your favorite companies by signing up for job alerts on their career pages. This lets you apply quickly when new internships are listed.

5. Explore Internship-Specific Sites

Use sites like Chegg Internships, Internships.com , and WayUp, which focus specifically on internships. RippleMatch Opportunities is another great tool; it matches you with internships that fit your skills and preferences and helps manage your applications and interviews.

6. Learn About RippleMatch and Level.FYI

RippleMatch helps streamline your internship search by sending you matches based on your profile, which saves time and increases your chances of finding a good fit.

One of my best Levels.fyi this site offers valuable info about company salaries and cultures, helping you decide where to apply based on potential pay and work environment. During recruiting season, they also post some tech internships along with their salary rate and application link.

7. Follow Tech Blogs and Newsletters

Stay updated by subscribing to tech blogs and company newsletters. They often announce new internship programs and application periods early.

8. Join Tech Groups and Forums

Get involved in tech forums and professional groups on Reddit, Discord, or other platforms. These communities are great for networking and getting tips about applications and upcoming internships, e.g. Google for Developers

Closing Thoughts

With the right approach and tools, you can find great internships fast.

Remember being one of the first people to apply for internships does increase your chances sometimes and also you get a higher chance of receiving feedback early and sometimes from the recruiter directly instead of the email automation.

Lets, keep our application ready, our skills sharp, and stay connected with the tech community.

Until next time,

Let's all keep pushing forward with our tech career goals.

Yours in tech????,

Dorcas Ajayi,
