How to Put a Dent in the Family, Company, or Nation:

The progress in human history is made by a small group of people who constantly ask about the efficiency of the existing norms and culture in the current changing world. If Albert Einstein hadn't asked about the applicability of Newton's laws of gravity, we wouldn't have the general theory of relatively today. If John Maynard Keynes hadn't questioned the classical economists' inability to explain the cause of the Great Depression, we wouldn't have a comprehensive body of knowledge called macroeconomics today. Progress from the Stone Age to today was only possible because the right questions were asked. So we must ask about the usefulness of the norms and culture we find in our family, society, workplace, and even at the national level if progress is what we yawn for. Asking the right questions should be promoted in all spheres of society without labels.

For a nation to progress, we must question the usefulness of existing ways of doing things. So comrades, when you are hired, your first job is to understand the system. Try to understand how different units within the institution contribute to the final product/service. You can better understand a forest when you understand most of the trees in that forest. The first 2 to 3 years is to understand the system. After 2 to 3 years in an institution, you are expected to know the system as a whole and each unit connected to it.

If you understand the system, then you must know whether the processes are efficient in delivering quality products/services or not. If the processes are not efficient, then it is where you need to come in to find an alternative. Proposing alternative ways of doing things is not easy whether at the family level or national level because it requires a lot of adjustment and people don't want to change.
