How Are Purpose and Priorities Connected?
When we're clear about our life purpose, it is much easier to answer “What’s important to me?” Thus, to identify our priorities. As such, purpose drives our priorities.
Living With Purpose
My daily schedule is like it is on purpose. It's a deliberate choice.
That schedule reflects what’s most critical to me, as guided by my purpose.
Consequently, I’m pursuing my life purpose - my WHY - for this stage of my life.
When I know my life purpose, I'm able to live with purpose – on purpose!?proverbsforprofessionals.net
What Purpose Looks Like
For now, I’m focused on sharing the precepts, those fundamental disciplines, that I’m learning from the Book of Proverbs.
I pair that weekly learning with my 50-or-so-year's of work experience when I write these LinkedIn articles, weekly blog posts, and short entries on LinkedIn.
Precept-driven Growth
But, why precepts? That is, why First Principles or fundamental disciplines?
Because what I see around me is an epidemic of shallow-mindedness in the U.S.
People lack the ability to discern right from wrong. They believe anything and everything they're told. No matter how outrageous the lie!
As such, they never ask “Can that really be true?” And, "Where's the evidence to support those claims?"
Conversely, wisdom, being wise-hearted, is the cure for that shallowness.
Wisdom produces critical thinking, discernment, sense-making, and good judgment.

Connecting Purpose and Priorities
When I know my purpose in life I can answer the question “What’s important to me?” Thus, "What are my priorities?"
Moreover, one way to express purpose is with a value proposition. It expresses where I most add value to others.
Here's mine: I share the balanced life with influencers so they can be wise-hearted and wise-behaving. Therefore, my WHY revolves around living in balance and sharing that learning.
But, which one comes first, purpose or priorities?
I suspect you will hear arguments supporting either order. For me, knowing my WHY enables me to then determine what should come first in life.
So, for me, my life priorities are purpose-driven.
For me, knowing my WHY enables me to then determine what should come first in life.
Apply This Today!
Most practically, the depth of my wisdom drives my ability to recognize and accomplish my life purpose.
Moreover, for a person of faith, life purpose is an outcome of that personal faith.
We pursue our life purpose through priorities that accomplish our purpose!
Finally, a life of purpose enjoys good. Thus, the ultimate definition of a good life!

1 年Love the coupling of "wise-hearted" and "wise-behaving!" There's value in constantly re-evaluating one's priorities and purpose -- and adjusting when necessary They do change over time, and can even change day-by-day (as in, "Today, my top priority is...").
