How to Provide More Value and See More in Life, Business, and Your Career

The US disabled unemployment rate should be the same as the US unemployment rate
Do you know how to provide more value to others?
If you want to get ahead in life… You better!
Figuring out how to provide big Value with a capital V is the big secret…
And that big value is the skeleton key that will unlock magical abundance, happiness, and money in your life…
In this post, I’m going to share with you my quick 2-step process to do just that…
But first… Some smaller value bombs to set the scene and warm you up…
1. You’re gifted a Starbucks from an unknown stranger…
Abundance… Happiness… Free money…
2. Someone holds the door for you…
Abundance… Happiness… And saving you time… And your time is money…
3. Someone returns to you a valuable you’ve unknowingly dropped…
Abundance… Happiness… And a $20 bill!
See what I mean?
While I hope, I pray, that you’ve bought an unexpecting patron coffee before… Held the door… Or returned that $20 Steve unknowingly dropped…
But regardless of the past… Your bright future is ahead of you…
And the underlying principle … The concept to apply in a larger, more creative way… Is this…
When you give, provide, and insert more, more, and more value into the market…
i.e. someone else’s life, business, family, mission, passion, day, health…
You become more valuable.
You become more liked.
You become more influential.
You get better opportunities.
And you’re better paid.
Because when you provide… You are provided.
Providing = Good
So how the hell do you do that?
It’s easier than you think…
The quick 2-step process…
Quick = Good
First… Identify where you can provide value…
Second… Execute.
Here’s what I’m talking’ bout…
Yesterday, while resting during my workout, I finished reading What Doesn’t Kill Us on my Audible app…
Which is a great read that I highly recommend.
And I was practicing some of the breathing techniques I learned in the book to hack my biology, improve performance, and my life…
If you’re into that sort of thing… Meanwhile…
My property manager brings a prospective resident through the gym… Just like she did for me a few years ago.
I love where I live…
It’s a smaller, luxury apartment home property complex…
It features underground garage parking beneath two 4-story buildings… Each with their own elevators…
With indoor hallways to each apartment’s front door… So you’re never caught in the rain…
Plus, a heated pool and the best apartment gym that I’ve ever seen!
Kettlebells, cardio equipment, a leg press, bench press, back extension, abs machine… The list goes on.
Like I said… I love where I live.
The property manager goes on to explain…
“The gym is never crowded…”
And her words get me thinking…
That’s true… And probably because of the many quiet, elderly, individuals living here…
Who’re probably busy walking around some mall right now…
I love the quiet…
And my ADD brain snaps out of that thought just in time to think…
This is an opportunity to provide value… And execute.
That’s the 1 2-step process in a single sentence…
Pro tip 1: When you pull that value trigger, make sure your experience, knowledge, or expertise is legitimate…
If you were an expert in everything… You’d be Steven Seagal…
Imagine the smiling pile of poo emoji… Cuz that’s replacing a headshot…
Who’s catching the Tom Segura “Mostly Stories” reference?
And just like that my second recommendation emerges in a single post!
More pointedly… Don’t provide value in areas you’re not equipped to.
Or ever, ever get caught in a Steven Seagal movie marathon tornado…
Back to the gym…
And the unfolding of the 1 2 step process of value bombing…
So I just recognized my chance to give some juicy value goodness…
Now I’ve got to execute that value…
And here’s how that execution went down…
“Hey, Insert Property Manager’s Name Here…”
“Yes,” she shot back… Already half-way out the door.
Here’s my one shot, one sentence worth of attention, to make a difference, and give that value…
Directing my words to the prospective future tenant, “Yeah, whatever she tells you about this place, the best thing here… Is her.”
“Awww,” the prospective tenant says. “Thanks.”
BOOOOM!!!
That’s the sound of value dropping…
I’ve already framed why that sentence was an atomic value bomb…
But I’ll bullet point it again for you.
And share the things she’ll discover on the heels of hearing that value in the next 15 minutes…
She’s already aware of the legendary apartment gym
- Pool that’s heated during the winter
- Underground gated parking garage
- Elevators that take you and your groceries up to whatever floor you live on
- Indoor front door entry
- Large, spacious floor plans with incredible storage
- Updated kitchens and cabinets
- Quiet, elderly neighbors
And in the back of her mind…
The whole time she’s touring the best apartment property I’ve ever lived in… She’s thinking…
“The property manager is the best thing about this place?”
“Damn. She’s gotta be amazing.”
Let’s dissect where I found that value…
I know this… You know this…
For every prospective tenant… Regardless of how many apartments they visit…
How they’ll be treated by the property manager is the only question they don’t have the answer to…
And that’s a big freaking question!
Unfortunately, they’ll never know the answer until months after they’ve put their name on the dotted line…
But what if I give this tenant the answer to that question?
#Value
Today, she knows the answer to that question before ever entering an apartment.
Meaning, she knows that she’s not just moving into a luxury apartment home…
She’s got the best property manager she could ask for…
Let’s recap how and why this exchange was valuable to both the tenant and the property manager
In one sentence… I inserted value to a prospective tenant…
By answering the only question the property manager can’t…
ONLY an existing resident has the credibility, experience, and expertise to say that…
A resident who just entered their 4th year at the complex no less…
And a resident who is also likely to not experience a rent increase next year…
Which brings me to Pro Tip #2
I’m qualified to say that because I have the experience, knowledge, and expertise to back it up.
Don’t write a check that your ass can’t cash…
What you’re saying, doing, giving, or providing… Better be straight gold.
Which in this case was delivering to the tenant directly what the property manager couldn’t…
And when a third party validates her awesomeness with swagger and without solicitation…
That provides value to the market… And everyone wins…
So how can you provide value to the market?
How can you begin to make other’s lives better?
Get started… Get creative.
Think about your strengths, your specialty, and how that info can alleviate a pain point or problem for someone else…
Think about your knowledge, your experience, and how sharing it can provide value to someone else…
Then, practice. Practice. Practice.
I know that you’ve got something inside you that could, would, and should be providing value to someone else…
I know that value could, would, and should be providing value back to you…
#UntappedROI
And if you can’t seem to find that knowledge, experience, expertise, or ROI inside you…
Buy me a coffee and I’ll help you find it.
