How to promote your restaurant on social media.

How to promote your restaurant on social media.

One of the biggest challenges most restaurants face is how to get more customers towards their business. To understand the behavior of your customers, you will have to know what the best times are for your customers to visit your establishment.

Most of your customers will visit your business when they are feeling hungry during breakfast, lunch and dinner. But where and how do you find these customers?

Most businesses make the mistake by promoting their business to a wide audience hoping that some of them will stick and visit their restaurants. They waste their precious money on marketing and advertising without knowing which ads brought the actual sale. It's almost impossible to measure the results of your advertising campaign.

It's a fact that more and more people are spending their time on social media to find information and recommendation from other people and friends when searching for a nice, good restaurant in a certain location.

With social media it's getting much more easier to target to an audience which are looking or have shown an interest to a product or service that is closely related to your restaurant. Let's say that you have a restaurant which serves steaks together with some fries and a salad. Your restaurant is situated in a nice location, has plenty of tables and there is also plenty of free parking space available.

You create a social media page where you fill in all the information about your business that is relevant and important to your customers. These could be information like your address, location, phone number, opening hours, etc. These are all information that your customers need if they decide to visit your restaurant, often together with their friends, family or college's.

You want to make sure that you are posting content about the products that you serve and share what makes your restaurant unique. Give your customers a good reason to visit you, by providing information and free value that will help your visitors turn into paying customers.

If you have read carefully, I already mentioned in the example above what a good USP (unique selling point) for your restaurant could be. Share your restaurant USP in a post together with a nice high quality photo and a clear call-to-action. You don't only want to share your USP, but you have also tell your customers what you want them to do next.

You want them to, "book a table" , "make a reservation", "call us now". To make it more appealing to your customers, you can also offer a limited time discount when they book a reservation immediately for the same day. To create scarcity you can also mention that you have limited space available. In order to do this, you have to be a little more creative in how to promote your restaurant on social media.

It doesn't matter if you already have an amazing restaurant, a dedicated team and an excellent service, but the important thing is that you have enough customers coming to your business that will help pay the bills. Using my earlier example above, my post will look something like this:

When it comes to promoting your restaurant on socia, you want to make sure that you are only targetting to people that are in close range to your business. It's a waste of money if your ad is showing to someone on the other side of the country. You can adjust your ad that it will only show to people in your city or within a close distance to your restaurant.

Timing is also very important if you want your ad campaign to be successful. Put yourself in the mindset of your potential customers. When are they feeling hungry, what are they thinking about? Always post your content or ad at a the right time, right moment with the right message and end with a good call to action.

As you can see, promoting your restaurant on social media will have better results for your money, compared to other ways of marketing. This is just a simply example to give a idea about how you can promote your restaurant on social media targeted on people who already have shown an interest (or like steaks, like I do). These are just one of the many strategies we use also for our social media restaurant clients today.
