New LinkedIn features in the past month
?? LinkedIn Lives are streaming direct into newsfeeds. I've not seen this yet but Kevin D Turner says that when you see the video in your feed, put your cursor over it and click the See more to be taken to the host's profile where the full Live event is showing. This will give a lot more promotion to live events and I can see it helping get Lives out to more people.
?? LinkedIn is testing moving incoming invitations from the My Network tab to the Notifications tab.?There, invites to connect, subscribe to newsletters and follow pages will be under a separate tab, conveniently named Invitations. There’s no word on if or when this will roll out and we’ve seen it only one client’s account, in the US. ?
?? Assign skills – this was signalled earlier in the year but has now begun to roll out. You can assign skills to these sections of your profile: Experience, Education, Volunteering and Accomplishments. See our post below for full details.
??? Add a live link to your profile Introduction section. If you have Content creator mode switched on you can now add a link or link display text.
??? Your My Network page now shows a new section, Audio events for you. This allows you to see upcoming audio events in one place instead of having to search for them. Currently, this feature has not been widely rolled out.

How to promote your new LinkedIn newsletter
You’ve created your newsletter. Excellent. Now, how are you going to persuade people to subscribe? Here are some ideas using LinkedIn to get you started:
Pin it to the Featured section of your profile.
?? Do this by clicking + in the top right of your Featured section.
?? Click Add a newsletter. If you have a newsletter, it will show up here.
Make it the live link in your profile intro
Those with Content Creator mode switched on can add a live link to the Introduction section of their profile. Use this to invite people to read or subscribe to your newsletter.
Share the URL of your newsletter page
Wherever you share links to your resources, add your newsletter URL. This could be in your email signature, on your website, in your marketing emails, at the end of your articles or blogs and any other places you market yourself. I’ve added mine to my Linktree with my other resources.
?? To find your newsletter page URL, go to My Network and click Newsletters.
?? Yours will be the one at the top.
?? Click [ … ] on the right and choose Copy link to share.
?? Save this to reuse. (You’ll be glad you did.)
Add it in your marketing comment on posts
You can comment on your own posts which is a great opportunity to share your newsletter link and other marketing links. I don't do this on every post but probably should.
Here’s what mine says.
Here’s another.
Send it to new connections
Instead of sending a plain ‘thank you for connecting’ message when you gain a new connection, send them something useful that isn’t sales-focused. What could be better than your value-packed newsletter?

Here it’s added to a message to a new connection.
When the first issue of your newsletter was published, it was automatically sent to all your connections and followers. But this only happens once. After that, persuading people to subscribe is up to you. And the more you promote it, the more subscribers you will attract. ?

NEW free e-book – How to Build Relationships on LinkedIn
Building a strong network of connections who know you, like you and trust you – often called a tribe – opens doors to opportunities you didn’t know existed. But in our fast-paced, must-get-sales-today world, building relationships is often overshadowed by the unfortunate rise of the ‘connect then spam’ tactic. This destroys trust and truly irritates people.
So, on a recent webinar I talked with networking guru, Tom Broxham, about the best ways to use LinkedIn to build strong networks that will help you achieve your professional goals on LinkedIn. We shared such a wealth of ideas and advice that after the event (which you can see here: https://linkability.biz/3sz4ZMn) I turned our discussion into an e-book. If you are interested in practical tips for how to master networking on LinkedIn, you are welcome to download it FREE at https://linkability.biz/3FHF4Hw.

2 年Great stuff Lynnaire Johnston ! Thank you. I'm a fan of pinning your Newsletter to the Featured section. I think it's a great use of your limited profile 'reak estate ' and in a lot of cases a more important goal than your website or that typical "Meet with me" CTA people often have. Question: Do you see Audio Events as a strong growth opportunity for LinkedIn Creators?
