How To Be Productive Like A Perfume
Renée Padmore
To make walking in purpose and sharing the Gospel as simple and creative as possible for Christian women entrepreneurs
Jesus taught people powerful truths using regular things like salt, light and seeds. And He made a lasting impact. I hope I can do the same for you each week with simple objects and insightful teachings.?
Everything has a purpose for being created. Purpose gives us meaning and helps us to become more productive with our time. In the Productivity PlayRoom today let's see what we can learn from perfume.
Embrace your uniqueness
Perfume is an interesting product. You can have thousands of the same scent on a shelf. Different people will buy the same perfume but it will smell differently on each person.
That's because we have unique scents based on our own pH balance and other factors.
Perfumes don't try to be a different scent. They simply work with the person's specific scent to create a unique smell.
We're like perfume in this way. Even if we share similarities with other people:
→ Jobs
→ Names
→ Talents
→ Experiences
→ Nationalities?
What is inside of us is special and designed to do a unique work. When we embrace our uniqueness as God created us, we will learn to use who we are to do the work that God has called us to do.?
Get the right carrier
Perfumes contain carrier ingredients (like coconut oil, almond oil, alcohol). They are safe to use on the skin and help to diffuse the fragrance blend in perfumes effectively.?
Fragrance and essential oils are potent and need to be diluted so that they don't cause any damage. That's why you can't just put any oil directly on your skin. You need carrier oils. And get this.
You need much more of the carrier oil than the fragrance or essential oil.
Do you know what carries us so that we don't cause any damage to ourselves or others?
What helps us distribute our 'fragrances' (talents and skills) more effectively?
God's Word and the Holy Spirit.
We need more of God than more talent, just like how we need more carrier oils than fragrance oils. Talent is all around us. But we go further with more of God's guidance in our life.
Don't try to carry your fragrances on your own. You may cause damage that is difficult to repair. A little talent with a whole lot of Holy Spirit can achieve so much everyday.
Allow God to carry you so that you are effective in building His kingdom.

Have you ever looked at a whole set of perfumes or colognes in a store?
??Different shapes
??Different scents
??Different sizes
I've noticed that it doesn't really matter what the bottle looks like. To get to the essence inside you need to press the spray nozzle.
The sweetest cologne is no use to you if you don't press the nozzle to get it out.
You have so much inside of you that needs to come out.?
?? Your skills
?? Your talents?
?? Your experiences
But if you don't press your nozzle.
If you don't press in, dig deep and take action,
You'll just be another pretty perfume bottle on the shelf.?
With so much potential but not fulfilling your purpose.
If you want to be productive in life, it starts with knowing your purpose and taking the steps you need to walk in it.
Wrapping it up
Ephesians 2:10 tells us
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Masterpieces are one of a kind. Created uniquely to do a specific work.
You are God's masterpiece and He's waiting for you to walk in purpose like a perfume.

5 个月As unique as a perfume that makes it different from other perfumes in store, that's how you have to look in deeper and discover your unique value proposition. What can you do better than anyone else? What makes you different and special? The easiest way to do this is bringing it up to God. He provides the best answer and possibly the best strategy! I love this Renée! Thanks for sharing!??

5 个月Love the perfume analogy! We all have a unique fragrance, but it's only when we let God carry us that our true potential gets released.

5 个月As always great lesson. Whenever I go out I like to spray a dash of perfume. It makes me feel dress up and confident. Wearing too much perfume has the opposite effect. Your analogies are so special and how you find something about God in all the things you see around you.

5 个月"If you don't press in, dig deep and take action, You'll just be another pretty perfume bottle on the shelf." ?????? This is brilliant and such a great analogy to the reality of our relationship with our Creator...allowing ourselves to be carried. FYI - This reminded me of my days as a Studio Manager working with brand managers of fragrance and was involved in helping to come up with some scents as well as bottle design.
