Raw material:
Silica+Iron Raw material(Steel Scrap)+Coke
The raw material are frist crush into small pieces and then mixed in the desired proportions. The mixture is then fed into a furnace, where it is heated to a temperature of around 1800℃
Melting and Reduction
The charge is melted in a submerged arc furnace using an electric arc.The temperature is maintained at around 1800℃ to ensure complete melting of charge. The reduction of charge takes place in the presence of carbon, which supplied by coke. The silicon in the charge is reduced to from silicon carbide, while the iron is reduced to from metallic iron.
Refining
Once the reduction is complete, the molten metal is refined tp remove any impurities. The refining process involves the use of various fluxes, which react with impurities to from slag. The slag is then skimmed of the surface of the molten metal.
Solidification
Once the refining is complete, the molten metal is allowed to cool and solidify. The solidified ferro silicon is then broken into small pieces, which are sorted and stored for further use
