How to prioritize your tasks
Arriving at priorities is a big challenge for many people. It certainly is, for me. Some years ago I did a course with Open University Business School, UK.
In one of the lessons, I found a simple way to prioritize tasks. Here is an example:
This is my current job list:
?1.??Write a chapter for my fiction book
2.??Post something on LinkedIn every day
3.??Play with grandchildren
4.??Go through references to find new content
5.??Go for a one hour walk every day
6.??Search the net for useful content on how to beat procrastination
7.??Practice singing everyday
?I start comparing item 1 against every other item
?1 vs 2
1 vs 3
1 vs 4
1 vs 5
1 vs 6
1 vs 7
?Then
?2 vs 3
2 vs 4
2 vs 5
2 vs 6
2 vs 7
?Then
3 vs 4
3 vs 5
3 vs 6
3 vs 7
?Then
?4 vs 5
4 vs 6
4 vs 7
?Then
?5 vs 6
5 vs 7
?Then
?6 vs 7
?I might end up with a priority list as follows
1.??Play with grandchildren
2.??Search the net for useful content on how to beat procrastination
3.??Write a chapter for my fiction book
4.??Go for one hour walk every day
5.??Go through references for repurposing
6.??Post something on LinkedIn every day
7.??Practice singing every day
Now I have no excuse for not doing what I have to do!!
