How the Prime Minister of India Surprised Us with More Than Words

How the Prime Minister of India Surprised Us with More Than Words

Your systems work dear PM! That is exactly what we experienced a few weeks ago when Chillibreeze’s DGM, Datngen Bha Kharpuri, received a reply from you, the Prime Minister of India.

Let me tell you how it happened

Our small presentation design company consists of about 60 people. We have been patiently waiting to apply to move into the newly constructed building located at the Software Technology Parks of India in Shillong, Meghalaya. The wait was becoming indefinite. It appeared as if the building would never be completed. At one point all work had stopped – the finishing of the interior, electrical and plumbing. We had expected the building to be available to rent more than a year ago.  Meetings, phone calls, and letters all reached a dead end. That is when Datngen decided to write to the Prime Minister of India.

I remember the day Datngen wrote. He said he completed a grievance request on the Prime Minister’s website. I was thrilled that he took action, yet not hopeful. I could only imagine and wonder at the number of grievances the Prime Minister of India must receive every day. My goodness! He is the leader of more than a billion people.

Your system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s system, works!

On October 28th, 2015 Datngen completed the grievance form at write to the Prime Minister. It was a short polite contact with a clear request explaining how the delay in completing the building was impacting our company’s expansion plans as well as other companies in Shillong.

About two months later we began to notice some activities – a bit of electrical work inside the pending building was getting done. Late January there was a flurry of activities, that too with a lot of speed, as if the construction workers had an urgent deadline to meet. Electricians, plumbers, concrete polishers, painters suddenly invaded the campus. We were happy to see this, but did not relate it to the grievance that Datngen had submitted.

Not till March 1, 2016. On that day Datngen received an update on the grievance form he had submitted which went something like this - “Additional work is being executed on priority basis and the building will be handed over to the authorities in the first week of March 2016”!

It was then that we realized the success of Datngen’s request, the success of a system set up by the government of India.

What I observed from this process was the power of execution. No one sought credit, no one wrote back, work went into action and got executed. Just as the reply said, “executed on priority”.

I salute you Mr. Prime Minister and want to thank the team that works behind the scenes processing such requests. You touched a small professional PowerPoint presentation design company, Chillibreeze, located in the remote foothills of Northeast India. Your system works! Hope you know that.
