What are LinkedIn carousel posts?
Even though LinkedIn does not officially refer to them as carousels, you have probably encountered them on your daily scrolls.
As shown above, LinkedIn users must interact with the post and manually go through each slide. This somewhat forced engagement makes the LinkedIn algorithm "think" that the post is valuable and should be shown to more people.
That's why carousels are one of the most performant LinkedIn posts. And if you look at the most popular creators on LinkedIn, they all take advantage of this hidden gem:
LinkedIn recently announced that they're getting rid of carousels, but they're simply referring to this new format which was temporarily introduced to creators.
To avoid confusion, I will use the official naming convention, which is LinkedIn documents, for the rest of this article.

As the naming implies, you will need a document file. LinkedIn currently supports PowerPoint presentations, Word Documents, and PDF files.
Once you have the document file ready, start creating a new post on LinkedIn and chose the document option, which is hidden behind the "More" dots.
Once the file has been uploaded, you must specify a title for the document.
On the next screen, you will be able to preview your post with the document attached, add a caption, and either schedule it for later or post it right away.
How to create documents for LinkedIn?
Posting a document on LinkedIn is the easiest part. The biggest challenge is the prerequisite of having a PDF file ready, especially if you're simply trying to post a few photos with the sliding/carousel effect.

But, it still felt like too much work, especially when crossposting to multiple social networks at once.
Publer to the rescue!
At Publer we're obsessed with automation and innovation, and when LinkedIn released the so much-anticipated API for document uploads, we immediately thought of this brilliant solution:
Instead of asking users to have a PDF file ready, why not automatically convert their photos to a PDF file for them?
While a lot happens behind the curtain, we left the interface as a simple checkbox: Post photos on LinkedIn as they are, or as a PDF document.
Keeping the interface simple allows us to continue offering all the tools that we have built over the years without much effort.
On top of that, you can basically post the same photos or slides as a PDF document on LinkedIn, as a carousel on Instagram, and as a photo album on Facebook.
You can sign up to try this (free) feature here, and if you want to learn more, check out this article from our blog.

10 个月Great article, thanks for sharing! I am finding that my carousel posts (uploaded as PDF) are getting compressed by LinkedIn and appear grainy in the news feed unless the user opens them up to full screen, which I don't expect anyone will do. Do you have a solution to this? Thanks again!
