How to Be a Positive Person

…this great Message I delivered to you is not mere human optimism. I didn’t receive it from the traditions, and I wasn’t taught it in some school. I got it straight from God, received the Message directly from Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:11-12, MSG)

Do you like being around positive people?

Me, too.

I coach business people around the world in how to insure they attract and invest time with positive people and avoid negative people—Eeyore Vampires—at all costs; how to Conceive the positive.

And I coach in how to Work Faith Positive by making sure you’re positive—Perceiving it with your thoughts, Believing it with your emotions, Achieving it with your actions, and Receiving it with your service.

All of which means that in helping folks move from where they are to where they want to be, I encounter some Eeyore Vampires. People who say, “Well, Dr. Joey, what if I’m the Eeyore Vampire?”

Those are always interesting conversations, filled with growing self-awareness and challenging revelations.

And sometimes, I’m told, “Well, I’m just not an optimistic person like you. My glass is half-empty and that’s just who I am.”

End of story.

And what’s particularly painful for me is when these persons are Christians.

I hurt for them because somewhere along the way, they adopted the notion that you’re born a certain way (nature) or you’re exposed early enough to certain teachings (nurture) and that’s how you get positive today.

Paul refers to it as human optimism taught in the traditions and some school.

Human optimism.

 I guess you can get pretty successful with it, at least further than if you choose human negativity.

But I hurt for these people because they’ve relegated themselves to human optimism which always pales in the heat of work, weakens in the economic challenges, and faints dead-away when adversity attacks.

It’s finite, limited, temporary.

A Faith Positive workstyle is rooted in what Paul calls the Message directly from Jesus Christ. One received straight from God.

The only reason anyone can be optimistic, the only leg you have to stand on when the heat is on, economic challenges assault you, and adversity tracks and attacks you is straight from God.

It’s infinite, limitless, eternal.

The Message that Jesus loves you through anything the work world can throw at you is the bedrock on which you can build your career.

People will lie to you, cheat on you, steal from you and all with a smile on their faces.

Human optimism is fake, a fa?ade, false.

It blows away in the first stiff wind of adversity.

The Message of how much God loves you is for real, fearless, forever.

Sure, I love positive people just like you do. And I hang around them every chance I get. I attract them by insuring I’m positive myself.

The ultimate source for positivity isn’t me and you.

The Ultimate Source for positivity is Jesus Christ.

Perceive, Conceive, Believe, Achieve, and Receive Him daily.

And as you do, watch your faith increase on the job, your joy grow greater at work, and your love for God and others get more and more like the love God has for you in Jesus Christ.
