How to Position yourself for Remote Work Opportunities

How to Position yourself for Remote Work Opportunities

My article came in early this week, and that is because my birthday is tomorrow, and I might not be chanced to post the article for this week.

This newsletter edition is going to be awesome, especially if you've been looking for remote job opportunities. Lately, I've been busy getting ready for the next phase we're heading into as a country and globally. I thought taking a break from social media might slow down the job offers I usually get online. But guess what? Better offers kept coming my way, and I'm so thankful to God for them.

Today, I want to share something that could really change things for you if you've been struggling to find remote job opportunities. Remote job opportunities, also known as "Work from Home" jobs, can be great for many of us and here are ways to position yourself for these opportunities.

Let's break down my simple concept step by step: Upskill, Implement, Strategize, and Launch Out.

Upskill: Picture this — you can't dive into the world of remote job opportunities without something valuable to offer. It's like showing up to a party without a gift! You must have a skill that is in high demand and also remote-friendly. There are different remote skills you can learn online these days; Virtual Assistant, Content Marketing, Social Media Management, Community Management, Video Editing, Content Creation, Influencer Marketing, Customer Service, and so on. Pick a skill that aligns with your passion or interest, take a course on it, and learn about it.

Implement: It is possible to have a skill and not implement it, and that is why a lot of skilled people are out there but no job offers because they never implement it. There are several ways to go about implementing your skills, and they are;

  • Creating Contents about it online
  • Teaching people on it (Organizing free training programs to share what you know about a topic)
  • Volunteering
  • Partnership
  • Projects.

Strategize: This part is where the magic happens, and honestly, it's my favorite step in the whole process. Picture this: you could have all the skills in the world, but without a solid game plan, it's like having a map with no destination marked. Strategizing is about more than just plotting a course; it's about crafting a roadmap for success.

To "strategize" means to plan or make decisions in a thoughtful and structured way to achieve a specific goal or outcome. It involves thinking about the best approach to take, considering different options, and outlining steps to reach a desired result. Strategizing often involves analyzing the situation, setting objectives, and determining the most effective course of action to achieve success.

When it comes to positioning yourself for those coveted remote job opportunities, here are some actionable ways to strategize effectively:

  • Update Your Resumes and Online Portfolios: Your resume and portfolio are like your personal marketing tools. When you're updating these, make sure to highlight your key achievements. Include details like projects you've worked on, any training programs you've completed, and tangible impacts you've made. For example, mention how you trained over 40 individuals in a specific skill or your volunteering experience at a particular organization. Keep your resume concise and impactful.
  • Build a Strong Online Presence, Especially on LinkedIn: In today's digital age, your online presence matters more than ever. LinkedIn is a powerhouse for professional networking. Make sure your profile is polished, showcases your skills effectively, and highlights your experiences. Engage with industry peers and potential clients to expand your network.
  • Reach Out to Potential Clients and Companies on LinkedIn: Don't wait for opportunities to knock on your door; go out there and create them! Connect with potential clients and companies on LinkedIn. Share your work, experiences, and expertise with them. Engage in meaningful conversations that showcase your value proposition.
  • Utilize Remote Work Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr: These platforms are goldmines for remote work opportunities. Create profiles that stand out, showcase your skills, and start bidding on projects that align with your expertise. Build a reputation for delivering quality work and watch the opportunities flow in.
  • Start Offering Your Skills as a Service and Monetize Them: Put your skills to work and start making money from them. Whether it's through freelance projects, consulting gigs, or offering specialized services, monetizing your skills is a crucial step towards sustainable success in the remote work landscape.

Launch Out: Here's where the rubber meets the road. It's time to step out of your comfort zone and let the world know what you're all about. You've got the skills, the experience, the portfolio — now it's time to shine! Share your work on social media, create videos, write articles, and start conversations about how your skills can solve problems for others. Don't hold back — the world is waiting to see what you can do!

By following these steps diligently, you'll start seeing offers rolling in from all directions, near and far. Trust me, I've been working remotely for over four years now, and I've never had a shortage of clients or opportunities. Consistency is key, and if you keep at it, you'll not only make money but also find yourself consulting for individuals and organizations.

Oh, and speaking of opportunities, I kicked off the Creativity Challenge back in July to help creatives like you navigate through these steps. The results speak for themselves — participants are landing gigs, getting offers, and making waves.

This is supposed to be paid but because I am in my birthday season, I will make it for free but limited to just few number of people. If you are interested, hurry up and register via bit.ly/CreativityChallengeWithGabby . Registration closes soon and next edition will be paid.

I hope you found today's insights helpful and are ready to take action. Have a fantastic week ahead, and remember — the world is waiting for your unique talents to shine!
