How to pledge $20,000 and raise more than $6,000,000?
The creators of Terraplanter would probably say that one needs a good product in order to be as successful as they are, but I believe one needs more than that.
Terraplanter is a unique and well-designed pot that lets you grow at home various plants, such as Orchid, Chia, and even Grass, without soil. Yup, the only thing that you need is WATER, which will defuse slowly through the 1,400 cells on the exterior of the solid ceramic pot, and your plant or seeds will grow on their own. After a lot of testing, the Terraplanter team says they "refined the algorithm and design to get the optimal solution for plants to thrive."
After getting done with the design process, the Tarrplanter team launched their Kickstarter campaign, pledging $20,000, selling the product for 59$ each. Although the three creators, Eran Zarhi, Elad Burko, and Roy Burko, have experience launching Kickstarter campaigns, I can assume that even they were just amazed to see their baby reaching the top 20 most backed projects on Kickstarter after 55,236 people pledged $6,391,763.
I know, this product is amazing, and I even bought two pieces for myself, but still - what is the secret of the mass funding? I think it's the marketing video they created to explain the product that made this project successful. Using various shooting techniques, explaining the pains behind the product, and explaining the reasons for the design, made it, in my opinion, one of the best marketing videos I have ever seen. I was so thrilled about this product and video; I had had to call Elad and talk about it with him personally.
Commonly, we think about good ideas throughout our lives, but a good idea is probably not enough for building a good brand. It is the process of how to deliver the idea to the potential customers that make us different, unique, and sometimes even winners. Terraplanter team just did everything right, and they deserve the success they are gaining. Watch their amazing video, then get one pot for your mom, and make her happy.

2 年Itai Yeger: Your title is misleading. It should say: "How the con artists from Terraplanter scammed 55,236 backers?and took $6,391,763 for a product that hasn't been delivered more than 2 years later". With an estimated delivery of October 2020, 4 lousy updates in the past 6 months, and a product that we could all buy on Amazon for $39 ("Self-Watering Terra Cotta Planter"), to be a backer of this project makes me upset. As a "5x Terraplanter - Early Bird" backer, I paid $45/u, in June 2020, to support this project. Yes, not everything goes according to the plan, yes, Covid, yes, life is hard. But the 55K+ backers and the 10,985 comments on the Kickstarter page virtually say the same thing: This is a rip-off! You mentioned in the article that "I even bought two pieces for myself". Have you received them yet?
