How a PIE works in a Galley

How a PIE works in a Galley

Following on from our series on how Causeway Aero Group works with its Part 21J clients using our Programme Integration Engineers (PIEs) we thought it would be good to share more.

Our Part21J client asked us to assist in a cabin upgrade programme for two widebody aircraft, specifically the upgrade of the galley area

The new cabin configuration required that the position of the galley was changed and modified to incorporate new equipment. This included new ovens, boilers, and other new inserts, as well as raising the work surface.

The relocation of the galley had an impact on the rest of the cabin and the size and shape of wall and ceiling panels. The relocation also meant that overhead bins needed to be changed.

The challenge for Causeway Aero Group was to source replacement panels that could make the new galley fit in its new position in time to meet the challenging project timescales.

Working with both our Part 21J client’s engineering team and the Causeway engineering team, our Project Integration Engineer (PIE) quickly worked out where refurbished parts could be used or modified for use and where new parts would be required.

Once the split between new parts and modified refurbished parts was agreed with the Part 21J client, our PIE ensured that the Causeway Engineering team could get the new parts designed, and once completed and approved, sent to our Bristol site to be manufactured under our Part 21G approval.

Our PIE also worked with our sourcing experts to find the parts that needed to be refurbished and modified as part of the galley package. Once the appropriate parts were located and procured, they were also shipped to our Bristol site and processed under our Part 145 and Part 21G approvals.

Once all the parts (new and refurbished) were completed and inspected, the Causeway PIE ensured that they were shipped to the MRO site in time to be incorporated into the cabin reconfiguration.

Our approach to these projects is unique in the market. By working in detail with our Part 21J clients and integrating Causeway’s own highly skilled engineering, sourcing and logistics teams we can get the best solution for each project.

With our Project Integration Engineers taking OWNERSHP of each project at every stage we can make your interiors project happen – on time, on spec and on budget.
