How to pick the right realtor
?????I’m often asked what a person should look for in a real estate agent. It goes without saying experience and competency are essential, but that’s not difficult to find in a competitive market such as Toronto; truly, the city offers an impressive array of skilled agents. So, then, how does one choose??
????If you’re a first time homebuyer or maybe it’s been a while since you’ve used a realtor, you might be surprised to discover just how much time you spend with your agent. Between the emails, texts, phone calls, and in-person meetings, your realtor becomes one of the people with whom you spend the most amount of time during the buying and selling process. More often than not, your realtor begins to feel like family. So, choosing a realtor you actually like should be imperative in your selection.?
?????Beyond finding your realtor likeable, you should also trust them - as in trust them with your life’s savings. While it does take time to build trust, there are certain indicators you should pay attention to while conducting the interview process. An ease in communication, their familiarity with the market, and a general conscientiousness are promising markers of a trustworthy agent. But, like many things in life, it often comes down to a feeling; can you see yourself considering the advice your realtor offers you? Just as you should be able to envision yourself living in a home before you bid on it, you should be able to see yourself taking your realtor’s counsel seriously.?
?????So there you have it. The process of selecting an agent isn’t that scientific. Find someone you vibe with and enjoy the ride.
