How to personalize LinkedIn invites through the mobile app

It can seem lazy and impersonal when LinkedIn users don't personalize invitations to connect. (And perhaps they are being lazy). But as more and more LinkedIn traffic goes through mobile, many are using the LinkedIn app to build their network but do not know that you CAN customize invites through the mobile app.
Here's how in 3 steps
Step 1
When you pull up someone's profile on the LinkedIn app and want to connect, do not hit the connect button. (Sounds counterintuitive.)
Instead, select the three buttons in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2
You will then see the next screen, which gives you a series of options including personalizing an invite.
Step 3
You can then customize your message to the person you're hoping to invite to your network.
I hope this clears up confusion. It won't stop the generic invites from being sent but hopefully for those of you who want to personalize invitations through the mobile app, you now know how. (And thank you Donna Burtchaell for being the test subject.)

9 年Yes you can send a personalized invite but what stops the person from selecting the "I Don't Know" (IDK) option? After an unknown number of IDKs, you're blocked from sending additional invites. I believe there's a glitch on mobile that creates a false IDK.
