How to Perform a Quarterly Review for Yourself

Welcome to Q2 ??,

Feels just like yesterday we shouted “Happy New Year!”, but like they say, time doesn’t respect anybody.

Are you still on track for ‘Goal 2024’ ?? (I don’t mean to shake your table)

To be fair, it’s okay not to be on track, humans aren’t robots and sometimes we do get off track. The mistake though is that most of us STAY off track!

How about you see Q2 as another ’New Year?’ We do not need to wait till December to bring out journals and notepads again, and any voice telling you you’ve lost all momentum is pretty much lying to you.

Here are some practical steps you can take toward your personal quarterly review:

  • Revisit Your Goals: Are these goals still relevant and meaningful? It’s possible that you set them in haste and your reality now looks different. Are they great or do you need to make adjustments??Make them.
  • Assess Progress: Evaluate your progress towards each goal. Use specific metrics or milestones to measure how far you've come. Identify what's working well and what needs improvement.
  • Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Mine is time management… I am doing so much better with my morning routine!
  • Identify Roadblocks: Pinpoint any obstacles or challenges that have hindered your progress. This could be a lack of time, resources, or unexpected circumstances. Understanding these roadblocks will help you strategize better for this new quarter.
  • Review Habits and Routines: Habits make the man. Evaluate your daily habits and routines. Are they supporting your goals or holding you back? Identify habits that need to change or new habits you want to adopt.
  • Update Action Plans: Create a clear action plan for the next quarter. Break down your goals into actionable steps with deadlines. The tool Notion works really well for this
  • Schedule Check-ins: Decide ASAP what time is for regular check-ins throughout the quarter to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments. This could be weekly or bi-weekly reviews to ensure you stay on track.
  • Stay Accountable: Accountability increases your commitment to achieving your goals. Share your revised goals and action plans with someone you trust, this could be your mentor, friend, or colleague.?
  • Stay Flexible: TBH, your life can’t be put in a box, so stay flexible and open to adjusting your plans as needed. You also need room for new opportunities that will surely come!

There you have it. I personally like the idea of having 4 years in 1 and having new chances to pause, reflect, pivot, or accelerate.

Wishing you all the best! My DM is open if you need any help.
