How are people using ChatGPT at work? 250 Respondents answered.
Recently there was a reddit thread on r/chatgpt, which sheds some light into how people are using large language model AI technology in practical uses at their jobs.
How will AI affect your job? This article may help you find out.
ChatGPT is improving communication, one participant, who wants to be a better communicator, stated:
"I'm bad at writing emails. I seem to always get the tone wrong. GPT writes the tone perfectly. It's not efficient, but it's helped me a lot". (sic)
To counteract brain freeze in creative marketing, another participant raved:
"I just used it for a strategic marketing proposal. What used to take 2 weeks and three team members took me 8 hours by myself.
And I had it analyze the output for gaps or ideas I missed, which made it much more comprehensive.
Total game changer."
Even teachers are starting to use the power of AI:
"I'm a teacher and I use it occasionally to plan lessons if I'm behind and also, occasionally to answer really tough questions I can also fact check, such as 'how does y and x theory differ and overlap'?"
In a comparison between the differing AI models, one participant said:
"I use GPT-4, Bing Chat, Claude+, and Bard like a group of advisors. I often ask them all the same question and take the best parts of their responses and refine. They have surprisingly different approaches and it's been incredibly useful. It's always easier to edit than create, so they have been great for starting projects."
Even tech has gotten in on the party, using ChatGPT to write a lot of different outputs.
"Like others-- I use it a ton for coding, but I love it as a writing partner/proofreader/argument-challenger. When I finish working on a doc (product strategy, charter, quarterly business updates, etc.) I ask ChatGPT to critique it and look for fallacies, cognitive dissonance, contradictions, and unverified assumptions."
To summarize, ChatGPT is applicable in most white-collar jobs to automate mundane tasks or laborious research.
