How to pass the Cloud Security Alliance Certified Cloud Security Knowledge v4 Certification

I have received a lot of inquiries regarding certifications and the path one should embark in Cybersecurity. One of the certifications that is growing in popularity is the CSA CCSK, better known as the Cloud Security Alliance Certified Cloud Security Knowledge Certification. I’ve taken the exam in January and February 2019 and felt it was a great certification to have knowledge on Cloud Security. My preparation time for the exam took a month, which included reading the materials and watching various videos. I am a visual learner and I tend to take longer to comprehend the materials. I did not have someone from my previous employer to guide me on which certification to take. I had to be my own career certification advisor and figure out which certifications to obtain. I’ve consulted with some of my peers for a second option about the certification and they highly recommended on taking the CCSK. I did not pass the certification the first time, but I was determined to pass this exam to help elevate my career path. It’s not about failing the certification, it’s about the journey, understanding the materials, and passing the certification.

To give you some insight, the certification can be taken remotely, and it is open book/open notes. From my personal experience, open book/open notes exams are by far the most challenging exams I’ve taken throughout my educational career. The passing score for the CCSK is 80%. When I took the exam, my scores were near passing, but I was determined to pass the certification. The key to passing the certification is reading the materials provided on the website. The content for the CCSK is a great foundation for obtaining other certifications like ISC2 CISSP and CCSP.

Here are the steps to follow for the certification:

1)    To sign up for materials and taking the exam, visit: https://www.cloudsecurityalliance.org

2)    Under the section: Education, click on Training & Certificates.

3)    Select Certified Cloud Security Knowledge (https://cloudsecurityalliance.org/education/ccsk/) in order to proceed towards the next page.

4)    Once the page opens, you will have the option to take a paid course or perform self-study. The CSA provides you with the CCSK Study prep materials.

The great thing about CSA is that the CCSK prep materials are FREE! The cost for the exam is $395.00, which provides two tokens to take the exam. If you fail under your two attempts, then you will have to pay an additional $395.00 to obtain another token for the exam. For each attempt that I did not pass the certification, I went back to the study materials and read the documents again as well as performing practice exams. If you want to succeed in this certification, then I would highly recommend that you read the documents with a fined tooth comb to obtain a clear understanding of the materials. There are CCSK videos on Udemy and YouTube that teaches CCSK materials, in addition to other sites you can venture out for your learning needs. I highly suggest you find some practice exams in order to become successful for the certification.
