How to overcome an unfortunate and unexpected real-life plot-twist - A reflection about dealing with defeats

Yeah, for sure, those moments when you witness that wonderful plan (that was running amazingly good), you made with your team, breaks, tear apart, as the investor jumps out and does not inject the promised / expected capital at that moment that you need it the most, or when the sponsor has an unexpected reaction, rejects the final result and wants it to go back to zero. Not counting the probability of being hit by misfortunes, not related to our jobs and professional lives, I mean those that happen on a more personal level, such as illness, loss from beloved ones, family struggles or even marital issues.

When working on a large team, being a leader or not, depending on the hierarchical level, there may still be some possibility of having a second-in-command, an experienced assistant, someone to be your voice of action, that covers you in your absence to solve problems and deal with critical situations, dead ends, but what if the team is too small, or you are that one-man/woman-team person? To where you'll run for solutions?

Life is no fairy tale, there will be always good and bad times. A true Ferris wheel in which our feelings flow in the rhythm of a roller coaster sometimes, full of oscillations, but in the end, somehow, it is natural. Having faith and hope in God and/or on you is a good start, it helps our minds and souls feel safe, just do not indulge/dive deep in triumphalist speeches, or while falling, you will hardly be able to rebuild yourself, for they ain't properly prepare you to overcome it, and the current state will be worst than the previous.

Choosing to overcome the falls and pains, getting up, even seemingly dying and turning around is a hopeful sign that there is resilience being generated, developed in you, a light at the end of the tunnel, but do not let it stops or all of it will be nothing but mere emotional movement known as "straw fire" (burns wildly on Friday's afternoon, but gets dry and lifeless in Saturday's dawn), action taken by impulse. So be persistent, persevere in your dreams and projects. That clearly reminds me an inspirational quote from Sylvester Stallone's Rocky V:

"The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows." [...] "But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward."

As hard as it is to raise up after every punch life strikes on us, with mischievous or discouraging comments, plots and everything else worse that we can imagine (or not), we gotta reinvent ourselves, find a way out. Restarting takes time, so we should not give up on trying, we gotta keep moving forward, life goes on.

Very inspiring article!! Resilience is an important soft skill that needs more and more to be developed in a VULCA world and that it is essencial for our success.
