How do you overcome imposter syndrome when you are booked to speak alongside Michelle Obama on a global stage?
I had the opportunity to ask this question on this weeks?Powerful Stories podcast chat? with US entrepreneur Andrea Isabelle Lucas and her answer was simple. Stand in your truth.
By understanding the power of who she could become with a simple mindset shift?Andrea went from living the life of a teen single mom recovering from domestic violence and poverty to step up and into her power to create a multi-million-dollar, national barre and yoga studio chain to in-demand public speaker.
Overcoming imposter syndrome by owning the power of your story and a pay it forward mindset is easy if you prioritse these actionable steps:
1. Acknowledge your feelings:?Recognize that your feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy are a common experience among many people. Validate your feelings, but do not dwell on them.
2.?Separate feelings from facts:?Imposter syndrome is often rooted in feelings of inadequacy and not in reality. Instead, focus on the facts of what you have accomplished and the skills you bring to the table.
3. Reframe your thoughts:?Instead of focusing on what you don't know, focus on what you do know and the unique perspectives and experiences you bring to your work.

4. Celebrate your successes:?Don't dismiss your accomplishments as being due to luck or circumstance. Celebrate your successes and be proud of what you have achieved.
5. Seek support:?Talk to a trusted friend, mentor or colleague about your feelings and join our next?Business Attraction Program 28 June AEST 10am . They can offer perspective and support.
6. Set realistic goals:?Setting goals that are achievable and that you can measure progress against can help boost confidence and reduce feelings of imposter syndrome.
Remember, everyone experiences imposter syndrome at some point in their lives. It's how you respond to those feelings that matter. By acknowledging and reframing your thoughts, celebrating your successes, seeking support, and setting realistic goals, you can overcome imposter syndrome and achieve your goals to wake up with a happy heart which becomes a magnet for miracles.

1 年Love this article, Tory! Relatable and helpful. An additional approach I've been using more recently (and it's working!) is to *celebrate* when I feel Imposter Syndrome--To see it as a good sign that I'm pushing myself into bigger & better realms.

1 年Interestingly this is frequently a discussion topic with my female colleagues/peers but rarely with my male counterparts. I think women are just far more self critical. Whilst I remain self critical, and I do value it for continuous improvement, I now definitely celebrate and am proud of my success, and ignore that imposter that sometimes still raises its head. AB
