Ways to overcome FEARS;
1. Face Your Fear:
"If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced."- Vincent van Gogh
- This simply means that the best way to conquer fear and turn it into courage is by doing the exact things that you are afraid of doing. Don’t avoid your fear, if you do, it will be scarier. Anything that you are afraid to face, just face it. If you are afraid to ride a roller coaster go right away and ride one. When you face your fear, it starts to fade. If you panic when getting into a lift one day, for example, it's best to get back into a lift the next day. Do the things that scare you the most frequently, and you will soon realize how courageous you will become to face any new frightful encounters.
2. Identify Your Fear:
- Here are some ways to identify your fears. We see the world as we perceive it. There are times that we see things in our minds that are not factual but fictitious. The way we see a situation is not always based on evidence but on expectations. Take some time and ask yourself. Which obstacles are real? Which ones are possibly imaginations in your mind that could be hidden? When once you identify real facts from fictitious ones created by your mind, forget about fictitious obstacles, and focus on the real factual obstacles you will easily conquer fear.
3. Don’t be Hostile to Your Fear, Be Friendly with It:
- We all encounter fear in both our personal and professional lives. It is part and parcel of humanity especially when you are out of your comfort zone and constantly pushing your limits. This is why it’s important to realize that the fear you’re feeling is not only normal it is a good sign. Fear itself is not a bad thing, it is a normal reaction when we encounter something unexpected or when we anticipate a new situation. It is a healthy motivation that keeps us alert and cautious when engaged in risky ventures or about to take a very important decision. It fills us with energy and adrenaline, it propels us forward and makes us to be innovative. It can be great in a competitive environment. Fear becomes a bad thing when you allow it to paralyze you or exaggerate it and it eventually leads to panic attacks.
