Inspiring continuous improvement in organisations with a social purpose, so everyone can experience great services.
Most, if not all of us are feeling huge pressures on our finances, and on the resources and time available to deliver meaningful services at the level we want to. The belt is tightening, expectations are growing, and you're more overworked than ever before. This is unsustainable...so what should you be doing to overcome this situation?
The problem with most advice regarding how you can 'do more with less', is that the advice focuses largely on how you can squeeze more in, usually by trying to figure out how to cram more into your day by doing things more efficiently, or by prioritising things differently.?
You may even have seen emails and materials from us with ideas on how to reduce waste in your processes and increase capacity/ reduce costs.?
It's by no means the wrong thing to do, and it will definitely improve your situation. There is?however a pre-requisite to this that needs to be clarified before you set off down this path....
When we say, 'do more with less', what we mean is do more of the right things for less, or to paraphrase, find ways to increase your impact, and achieve your desired outcomes, with less effort and resource.?
You will have seen this described as 'doing the right things' as opposed to 'doing things right'. Both essential, but need to be tackled in this critical order.?
Taking a step back to consider what the right things are for you as an individual, team or service is the essential first step to overcoming financial and capacity pressures.?
