How To Outlive Your Corporate Footprint and Invest In Social Responsibility
Wine To Water
We are committed to supporting life and dignity for all through the power of clean water.
How do you want your legacy to impact the world?
As a corporation, organization, or working professional, we all have the crucial opportunity of pursuing long-term goals to take action and work to serve our global community. The idea of Corporate Social Responsibility has evolved from a goodwill gesture toward men into a marketable strategy that far exceeds a return on investment. Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR is not only a display of commitment to investors and stakeholders but also contributes to the growth and development of a brand’s equity and employee retention. Alongside retention, CSR credibility enhances trust and transparency both internally and externally. You can market with the best of the high rollers but what is all of that marketing truly worth if the integrity of the investment is corrupt??
CSR strategies are tangible social actions corporations can choose to implement to leave a legacy of social impact. Historically, big money-generating hustlers would seek transactional forms of contribution to make their company look good, rather than seeking transformational impact through the form of credited hands-on social responsible investments.?
Consequently, corporate citizenship has a strong appeal and emphasis within our communities, but the more harrowing question is not why should we invest in social causes, but how? In a world full of causes, where does the groundwork for good begin??
In an effort to understand what corporate social action looks like we have to choose to dive a little deeper. Let us showcase an example we’ve implemented for this very cause. Located in the northwest corner of Colombia is the neighborhood of La Milagrosa a few years ago, our Wine To Water Latin America team distributed hand-held water filters to help provide this community with access to clean drinking water. The filters were sponsored, assembled, and implemented in this neighborhood as a result of a corporate partnership hands-on activity hosted by our US events team. This event was advertised as the Filter Build, a term coined by Wine To Water.?
A W|W Filter Build? involves building water filters as a team collaboratively, in order to stockpile them for global distribution and emergency relief. As a result of a simple hands-on exercise to do good, the filters are still being used by families across the globe in places struggling to provide themselves with clean drinking water. The effect of a simple philanthropic activity has done more than provide for a family in need. The result of a corporation’s commitment to doing good has inspired a new opportunity into the hearts and homes of even the families who received it. In this video captured by Wine To Water, you can see the heart of gratefulness this family has for those who have chosen to help sponsor their filter. Now, this family has turned around and chosen to give back and educate their own communities on the importance of clean water and what it’s meant to their family. This is the very definition of sustainable social action sparked by transformational, not transactional, CSR.
As an organization Wine To Water believes in giving opportunities to create long-term legacies. Steffani Fields, Director of Wine to Water’s International Programs, says, “In order to improve health you have to offer a sustainable program.”?
Those impacted are now advocates for other communities to utilize these filters too. By growing up with filters in their community, children who once walked miles to just retrieve undrinkable water develop their education for the importance of safe drinking water and using it in healthy sanitation hygiene practices. The value of a filter is far greater than we could ever think. The chance to know its value is truly a generational impact that will last for lifetimes.
