How Our People Practice Self-Care

How Our People Practice Self-Care

During this past Stress Awareness Month, we have had a great time chatting with our friends on social about their proven ways to reduce stress, manage self-doubt, and ensure self-compassion. Best of all, we’ve learned a lot in the process. ?

The most common method of ensuring “me-time”, according to 57% of our respondents, is to schedule it daily.

It's clear from our interactions that we all recognize the need to carve out “me-time” during the day, but with the pace of work and other responsibilities, that can be hard to do. The most common method of ensuring “me-time”, according to 57% of our respondents, is to schedule it daily. Twenty percent of us meditate during breaks; the NIH would approve! Check out their article on yoga and meditation as essential tools for alleviating stress. Another 17% of us space our commitments out to create downtime, and others shared that they try to work out daily, get plenty of sleep, practice yoga during breaks, and focus on breathing.?

We had some fabulous feedback from our friends on social on how to reap the stress relief benefits?from Mother Earth.

Spending time in nature is another go-to stress balm; we know this from personal experience, and the American Psychological Association confirms it. We had some fabulous feedback from our friends on social on how to reap the stress relief benefits?from Mother Earth. About a third of our respondents (34%) shared that Nature Bathing is their preferred method of harnessing the power of the outdoors to reduce stress. If you are unfamiliar with the term "Nature Bathing," the idea comes from a Japanese concept called?shinrin-yoku, meaning “forest bathing” or “relaxing in a forest atmosphere.” During a nature bath, you’re “bathing” in the energy and clean air of the woods. Think of it like meditation - you’re relaxing and reflecting while improving your focus and immune system in a soothing setting. Alongside Nature Bathing, hiking scored an equal 34%, trailed closely behind by gardening at 25%. Others reported time spent at the beach, near water, swimming in the sea daily, doing breathwork on the beach, engaging in indigenous cultural and spiritual practices, running in the park with their dog, and earthing/grounding (walking outside barefoot).?

We would like to thank you for engaging with us during Stress Awareness Month! But remember, just because April is ending doesn’t mean that we should forget about these stress management practices. Keep carving out that "me-time," breathe, stay active, meditate, and embrace nature. And keep us posted on how you are maintaining the momentum, we’re right there with you!?
