How our people are informing our approach

How our people are informing our approach

The below is co-authored with Sandy Torchia , Vice Chair - Talent and Culture at KPMG U.S.

There is no question that the past few years have had huge and lasting impacts on our peoples’ day-to-day lives and experiences. This has only intensified how important it is for us to think about how we stay nimble and responsive in order to continue to foster an environment for personal and professional growth.

Our people are our business and supporting them is key to our success. This was one of the reasons why, last year, we announced numerous enhancements to KPMG’s benefits and compensation package focused on mental, physical, social and financial well-being. These changes have been embraced by our people, the majority of whom feel that they have the flexibility to manage their personal and professional lives (75%) and who say that KPMG is a good place to work (80%), according to recent surveys.?

As we embark upon a new fiscal year at our firm, we are continuing to evaluate how, as an employer, we can further foster an environment that helps our people grow and thrive, at work and at home. Through continuous listening surveys of current and former KPMG employees, data-mining around how our benefits are (or aren’t) being used, and personal anecdotes from those willing to share their stories, we have uncovered new insights on a number of topics, namely: career development and career mobility opportunities; caregiver support, mental health, manager training and what it means to ‘Flex with Purpose .’

These efforts have informed us on what’s working well, where there is more work to be done to ensure that we are continuing to meet the needs of our people in this new hybrid environment, and future opportunities for growth – all with our people as our compass.

Over the coming weeks, we will share our findings and how they are informing what’s next for our firm. Hopefully this will provide insights into how employees and leaders across other organizations can continue to foster a supportive and enriching environment for their people, so that they can best support themselves, their families, and their clients.

Love this, Paul. Employees know best how their employers can support them most effectively.

I began by making a lengthy post on this, but withdrew in the end. Not one to express my feelings. But I will say, as a father of 2 small children, I’m truly blessed and, proud to be a part of this great company. I owe my growth and development to the direct and indirect people I work with, and for. Thank you KPMG!!!!!

I feel that leadership has been doing a great job at listening to our needs, doing its best to accommodate, and making us feel appreciated. Definitely #KPMGProud to work here.
