I am a big fan of Superman since I was young. Back then, I tried to read as many stories of Superman as I could and watched many Superman movies that were available. I don’t do that often now, but he still is the superhero that I really love. I brought the story of Superman up to share with you how beautiful life is in many occasions and we are far more connected than you might know.
Have you heard the name Christopher Reeve? He was an American actor best known for playing the role of Superman in its first three sequels back in the ‘70s. He was a Hollywood superstar well recognized by million of people around the world. And an accident happened in 1995 that changed his life forever. He was thrown from a horse during a competition and the injury paralyzed him from the shoulders down. A young gentleman in his best stage of living then relied on a wheelchair and ventilator until he passed. A huge tragedy. A very sad story.
But Christopher is the Superman in a movie, and he refused to accept his disability. He created the best part of his new life and became an inspiration for his efforts to overcome the injury and the dedication work to improve the quality of life for many people. While many professionals believed is impossible, he managed to recover movements in one of his fingers, and sensitivity in his legs. He founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation to speed up research that can improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. He wrote books, directed movies, organized and gave speeches at many events, advocated his works to build hope and to inspire people. 18 years ago, on October 10th, his decade-long battle came to an end but his legacy lives forever.

Earlier of this month, my wife and I sat down, and we talked about him and the amazing things he did despite all challenges. Our hearts and admirations were for him and his family. Then we met two amazing individuals, Dr. Hendrie Weisinger Weisinger on October 7th and Colin James on October 10th and these meetings have shown us how small our world is, and how beautiful life is that we want to share with you. We invited Dr. Weisinger and Colin to join our #InsightsSharing show because we admired their works and we wanted to share stories to our audiences around the world. Turned out, these people have great association with Superman, an attraction beyond our imagination. Dr. Weisinger’s father was the story editor of Superman comics and television for thirty years and his name is Mortimer Weisinger. So, Dr. Weisinger’s childhood had a lot to do with stories of Superman. Perhaps that was one of the motivating sources for him to offer amazing works to the people he serves. Colin James had another story that involves directly with the real human-Superman, Christopher Reeve. Colin is an educator who has spent over 30 years working with senior executives around the world to facilitate changes and to grow them and their people to their highest potentials. Colin grew up in South Africa and deeply involved in student politics as an anti-apartheid activist. He left the country to avoid being arrested and spent his next three years in the Middle East and Africa, then to Europe before moving to Australia in 1982. In 1988 he began working with the Australian Quadriplegic Association and that’s when he wrote letter asking Christopher Reeve about his research on spinal cord injury. They quickly connected and Christopher became his mentor since then.
I love the coincidence of how these events happened. Out of more than 400 experts we have invited to our show, none of them has any association with Superman nor Christopher Reeve. And while my wife and I started to talk about them, we got two amazing guest speakers to our show that has direct and indirect works with these huge figures. That’s the amazing effect of the universal law of attraction. I encourage you to believe in it. For whatever that you are doing, give it your best. As Steve Jobs said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So, you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down and it has made all the difference in my life.”
Everything we do matters. Will you give curiosity a little more time to explore that? How would you help yourself to believe and keep doing your best?
