How Are Our Clients Doing?
The need for housecleaning has only increased as folks spend (almost) all their time home together, now. I haven’t lost any clients and I suppose I could add more if I could handle them. But the cleaning now is more intensive and all my preparation for each house, and between houses, takes more time.
How are the suddenly housebound holding up?
Here is a FaceBook post from one of my clients which exemplifies both the frustration and the ultimate optimism folks are going through:
‘Two weeks out from my 75th birthday it would be time to invite all my friends to celebrate with me. We could all go the gym to work out together, or all go bowling, or all meet for dinner and drinks, or all go to a concert or a movie.
Well, we can’t do any of that!
We could all go on a 5-mile walk that I have taken up again since I can’t go to the gym. But we would have to space ourselves out a few yards apart. Not very social. But healthy.
No cake, no candles, no toasts. Oh, well. That is all ephemeral anyway. Fun, but fleeting.
Instead, I will celebrate with my wife for life. In person, Ha! And I will celebrate with anyone else who chimes in on social media, or who throws a cupcake on my porch!
As I blow out the inferno of candles (virtually) I will wish that you love the one you’re with.
The new target is 100 years. Race you there!’
Pets are happier because their people are home. Happy pets comfort their people. But both pets and their people seem to be eating more than normal. Home is where the snacks are. We’re home, there are the snacks, we can’t work out, let’s eat! Comfort food is so tempting.
Most of my clients are very mature and are doing their best to withstand temptation, like my FaceBook friend above. Hey! I am very mature and I work hard to eat well and exercise – actually, exercise is pretty much the definition of my work.
So, I accept the new target and will race my friend to 100! (I have a head start. Ha!)
