How to organize your Big Data News, in a Big Data Way?
Inspired by IE professor Enrique Dans
During my first semester of the International MBA, our Innovation’s in a Digital World professor Enrique Dans gave us valuable insights into how he structures his “news consumption”. As we were embarking on a busy MBA journey, Enrique’s advice proved to be extremely valuable for many of us.
But why should we listen to Enrique’s advice? Enrique has been teaching innovation at IE since 1990, and during our first lesson highlighted: “I work because I love this sh*t”. Currently he has a daily feed on Medium (https://medium.com/@edans) and his own Forbes page (https://www.forbes.com/sites/enriquedans/#293ceb9c76c0), where he reflects on everything related to innovation. Enrique approximately monitors 40 different sources systematically on a daily basis. In short, Enrique is always updated on the latest trends and uses technology to help him.
This is how Enrique works:
1. Find all interesting articles through Feedly
2. Store everything in Refind
3. Publish news selection on Flipboard
On Flipboard, it is then possible to follow Enrique and get his news selection in case your interests overlap. All of the tools are constantly evolving, and Medium for example has also become more of a discovery tool itself in recent years.
Adding to the ideas from Enrique, I would personally recommend subscribing to the weekly newsletter from SingularityHub (https://singularityhub.com/) which create and reference interesting content within various areas of technology. For example, in a recent edition, SingularityHub highlighted this article on how A.I. powered drones can help combat deforestation (https://www.digitaltrends.com/features/dendra-systems-reforestation-drones/).
