Does going out to a restaurant make you nervous? Not just in any restaurant, I am talking about where they speak English. At times I have noticed people get nervous or fall short of words when they have to place an order. The first thing you do when you go to a restaurant asking for a table, “I would like to have a table for/I have a reservation in the name of”. Ordering becomes the next step when you go to a restaurant. Always ask for a recommendation or suggestion from the server as he knows about his product better. While making changes or addition to your order, start the conversation by, “Could we also have…” The way you call for the server becomes very important as it shows your class. Instate of using some funny sounds to get the server’s attention, “say excuse me!” Usually, when you are enjoying your food, the server would ask for feedback. If you are enjoying then you would say “The food is delicious/scrumptious”. If you are not, you would say “It doesn’t taste right, could you replace it, Please?” After enjoying your meal you should ask for the check/bill by saying, “Could I have my check/bill?” Maybe you didn’t finish your food and you have a lot of leftovers, it's not good to waste food rather than taking it home.
