Why optimize your Profile?

In my view, about 75% of solopreneurs and professionals have an inadequate Profile with just the basic sections on it, such as Experience, Education and Skills. Most Profiles lack the keywords describing their expertise, best skills and achievements. Accordingly, recruiters or their potential clients will not find their Profiles.?

Another problem is that they also have an unattractive Profile. The majority of Profiles lack a professional picture and a winning pitch. Your Profile should make and a great first impression and it should attract potential clients. Unfortunately, in most cases, it is just a client or recruiter repellent.?

Three more ways to perfect your Profile

1. Add your most important URL at the top of your Profile

This is a new and important feature. You can now easily get more traffic e.g. to your website, YouTube channel or sales page. You can add this clickable link between your location and number of Followers and Connections.?

2. “Ring my bell feature”

This is another new and important feature at top of your Profile. Your Followers and Connections can click the bell icon to get notified of your latest content. Thus, your content will get more views on LinkedIn in the long run.

Ask the members of your network to click it by adding this call to action at the end of your posts and articles. You can also add the call to action with an arrow on your banner image.?

3. Providing services / Open to work

This feature a crucial section of your Profile to indicate your business or career goal and brand yourself. The message you have here should convince a recruiter or your potential client to contact you.

Providing services

If you are a solopreneur or freelancer, activate this feature. Add a pitch and tell what kind of services you provide. If you have a company Page on LinkedIn, link it to this feature.

Open to work

If you are looking for a job, activate this feature. Add a pitch and tell what kind of job/s you are looking for.

You have two options:

1. Activate it to all LinkedIn users. Thus, you get a green collar with hashtag #opentowork on your Profile picture.

2. If you want to be more subtle in your jobhunting, activate it only to recruiters. Then you miss the collar, but recruiters can see that you are actively looking for a job and want to be contacted by them.

Note: remember to update all three features when needed.

Outcome of perfecting your Profile:

recruiters and your potential clients will find you on LinkedIn and

want to contact you!
