how ONE little help returned 10 folds!

Sometimes we meet some people from our past. We get acquainted with them again. We reconnect. We tend to check – how fast or how far has he progressed over the years? Has he been up to anything good ? Is he successful now ? Or is this meet actually a coincidence? Maybe he seeks my help ? If he does, if he is still nobody, shall I help him ? Even if I can help him, why should I ? What is in it for me?

OVERTHINKING kills our natural response and our positive thoughts.

 Yes, it was Victor, who lost his job and our acquaintance was no coincidence !

He sought my help to do his resume. I hesitated as I was busy with my book project. But since he looked desperate, I relented.

I took the time to do his resume. After countless phone chats and two meets, I finally did it up …… a good constructive one. I was also pleased with my work, and Victor, on the other hand, was so delighted and grateful. He said he will treat me once he lands a job.

I did some pep talk, advised him never to give up. That was a good-bye …. for now.

 A week after that, Victor called me up,

V:          Hi, Susie

S:           Hi, Vic. Did you get any offers yet?

V:          No, not yet….. still on the search. By the way, hey, Susie, I heard you say, that you are looking for someone to do up a website?

S:           Yeah, yes. Why?

V:          Is it for you?

S:          Yep. I need a website for my book publishing and for engagement for the workshops

V:          I can do one for you. I did once before for my previous company. I don’t have any formal papers, but you can refer to my company website. Look at it. I can do one for you, Susie, if you let me.

S:           are you sure?

V:          Yeah. I can create one cool design for you. I am sure you will love it. I wish to return you a favor and for all the effort and time you took to do up a beautiful and fantastic resume for me.

My LESSON LEARNED:

Never underestimate the power of a common man!

Every NOBODY will become SOMEBODY, SOMEDAY, SOMETIME

and when you least expect it, who knows, he may return your favour ……

Not everything has to be about self-benefit. Reach out and pull one out. If you CAN, just do it. You never know, paying forward may boomerang back to you.

As the saying goes, my teeny weeny act of kindness did boomerang back to me!
