...The same holds true for spices...They deteriorate and loose their impact when exposed to light, heat and moisture. This occurs if they hang around to long in the distribution chain of life or in your pantry. Its all in the numbers!!! My sons play baseball...They both pitch...They both have decent ERAs and can throw some heat when they want....I tell them when they are facing the top four in the other teams line up...chances are their Batting Average is high so you need to throw a bit more junk to keep them off balance...because they certainly can hit a fastball..Its all in the numbers I say to them...yours and theirs...

My largest competitor puts a 4 digit number on the back of their jars the day they are put in the jar...Look in the Back Top left corner now on your jars you have in your kitchen: The first number of the sequence is the year the spices were put in the jar...so if it is a 3...that means 2013...if it is a 1...that means 2011.....The last three numbers is the day they are put in the jar...so 100 is the 100th day of that year....
