?How often should you post on Linkedin?
In the past year and a half of building my Instagram following up to 100k+, and now focusing on Linkedin and slowly building up my audience here.. I've read a lot of articles on when it's right to post on social media and everyone has an opinion to it all. For this specific article I am going to focus on Linkedin.
You read one article and it says to post weekdays only from 4-6PM, then you read another article and it says to post once a week and that you'll be fine.
So.. instead of focusing on some "magic" formula, let's look at what the Linkedin algorithm actually looks for.
1 - Posting consistently is more important than posting frequency
2 - Content quality is more important than content quantity. (New algorithms are now putting quality content on a much higher ranking than anything else)
??POSTING CONSISTENTLY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN POSTING FREQUENCY??
So the idea behind this is just to help you get started, if you're able to do both, post consistent quality content frequently then you'll be winning above all. I would, however, much rather you post consistently at a specific time / date than post frequently for like a week and then drop off for a week and stop posting and keep doing that same dreadful cycle.
I think the craziest things that I tend to read is when people advise you to post at a specific timing.. like what does that mean? If someone says 4PM, do they mean 4PM PST? EST? or are we even talking about US time zones? Who knows? ???♂?
All that sh** doesn't matter and doesn't even properly work. I'm all about data, and every profile I've analyzed has different data that is dependent on who follows it and where the account is originated from around the world. There's no simple rule of thumb for this.
But what wins above all? Someone who has a posting schedule and sticks to it no matter what. Linkedin LOVES someone who has a plan and sticks with that plan consistently.
EXAMPLE: Post once a week on Wednesday at 3 PM and do that EVERY SINGLE WEEK!
??Content quality is more important than content quantity.??
Now to come to my second point here.. Content quality is more important than content quantity. AGAIN, same concept, if you can do both very effectively then you'll win above all. Odds are though, you're just starting off, don't have much of an infrastructure to create a ton of content for your brand and so let's take it step by step.
First step? Post quality content. In my previous article I spoke about how it's very important to figure out your target niche audience and who you'd like to see your content and make content around that. Same concept. I want you to focus on content you know for a fact your target audience will find very valuable.
Why? Because Linkedin rewards posts that have more longer engagements and bring more traffic, it'll boost your profile to more people. Perfect way to get more engagement is to post content your target audience wants to actually see?
Not sure how to create quality content? I'll create another article talking about this more in depth to help you guys out.
Now to end off this article, here are some quick tips on the type of content works best on Linkedin
- Write text-only posts. You'd think that videos would do a lot better on this platform, but so far from my research and analyzing the platform I've noticed that people enjoy reading a lot more on this platform. This is SLOWLY shifting, but for now, this strategy works really well.
- Use emojis on your posts so that they can pop out even more on people's news feeds.
- Linkedin LOVES comments; the more comments you get on your posts, the more your post will be exposed to other people. Try to create engaging posts so that people can engage with all the things you're putting up on Linkedin.
- Use Linkedin native video: I've seen a lot of people share videos that aren't part of this platform and as much as I don't agree with this part, its the unfortunate reality... Linkedin DOES NOT LIKE it when you share content that isn't made on Linkedin, it WILL make sure you get no engagement on the post. Make sure to create content on the platform and don't share any outside content.
- Use hashtags on posts to reach a wider audience on Linkedin. With hashtags gaining more traction than ever, it's important to learn the tactic of using proper hashtags to get outside engagement on all your future posts.
