Over the last 21 years of coaching I have been an advocate with clients to work SMART not HARD, generate more money in 3-4 days than you ever did in 5 and create the lifestyle around what they are passion about.??Sadly, few can say that they are doing what they are passionate about which leads me to today’s article.?On average a lifespan of someone who reaches the age of 80 lives for 29,200 days, pretty sobering right.?
Obviously, as we grow older we question life far more than we ever did when we were younger.?Even sadder still, usually on average people do not take time out unless something forces them to, ie a sick child, an accident, ill health, someone dies, so much sick leave/annual leave banked up… pretty sad indictment on society as a whole right.?We take life for granted is the crux of what I wish to speak to today.?
Life is not guaranteed and yet (as a generalisation) we live for a future that has not arrived yet dissatisfied with how we are travelling in the present.?Upwards of 95% of most clientele I have worked with in the past 2 decades are out of balance, not living to their full potential, disassociated from what they are tolerating in their lives, addicted to DOING.?
One good aspect of Covid has seen people associating to what’s important, more leniency with working from home, or a mix of home and in office, a deeper inquiry into what matters, making decisions that better serve themselves and their families, making life changing decisions that change the trajectory of their lives.
Here’s a few recommendations to ponder today:
- As the CEO of the organisation you set the scene for whether taking time out is viewed as a mission critical necessity OR whether its viewed as a negative – check in with what culture you are creating for yourself, your executive and your people
- Definitely take a good 4 weeks off technology at some point during the year – it takes 2 weeks to wind down and another 2 to recalibrate, 4 weeks minimum…
- Book time away every quarter to re-charge
- Consider working 3-4 days per week rather than 5 so that you can have more freedom of choice around your lifestyle
- Get the world map out, now that the borders are open, start planning your next bucket list trip or destination – I spent, for example, my 21st/40th/50th in Santorini in Greece and intend to go back for my 60th – I invite friends to come and with turning 57 this year we have 3 years to plan in advance
- Consider checking out your own backyard…hire a campervan, go camping, get into the outdoors, consider what’s available in your own country
- Create memories…I took my 90 year old mother on a 5 day roadie down country recently to visit family and lifetime memories were created that I will never forget…
- Take your executive team offsite more often, it does not have to cost a fortune, get them around the campfire, let down your guards
- Find your mojo again!?If what you are doing does not fuel your soul be in the deeper inquiry about what could – NEVER focus on the HOW for that is the death knell to all possibility…lift the lid…heed the old saying, ‘you are a long time dead’!
- Get creative, take up a martial art, or an art class, write a book and take sabbaticals, learn a language, find out what FUN and or PLAY looks like for you!
- Anything that you are dissatisfied with in your life rectify it, stop tolerating it, the clock is ticking!?Tolerating dissatisfaction in ANY area of your life is ludicrous! I will say that again: Tolerating dissatisfaction in ANY area of your life is ludicrous!
Maybe just maybe, one of these points sparked something in you today, if so, great!?A life lived in full throttle moxie mode is a great life!
Love to hear your thoughts on what resonates for you today

2 年NAILED it Coach!! Becoming a father has been one of the most sobering experiences, aside from working directly with you my friend, to realize the GIFT and the juice of life is in the MOMENTS! Be intentional about being present in creating our legacy by moving the needle on what's most important to experiencing life now rather than regret simply existing in it later.
