How often do you give yourself a proper rest?
How often do you give yourself a proper rest?
Me and my husband recently went away overnight after a few really busy weeks. I’d felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of work I had to do and he was in a similar place.
Luckily, we both got to the stage where we had finished the main pieces of work we were working on, which made the time away even more rewarding.
We were discussing how we recognised the importance of having some down time to recharge our batteries even though we didn’t do it very much. Whilst we were away, we were able to enjoy each other’s company much more because we’d achieved what we needed to do before we left.
We’ve had occasions before where we have booked a night away but find ourselves so caught up in thoughts about work, that our quality time together didn’t work out as well as we would have liked.
This time though, we were able to take stock of our recent achievements and enjoy our time together walking through lovely meadows, enjoying a pint at the local brewery (well he did at least!) and of course we had to go for a curry, which is what we have always loved doing as a couple (our 16 year old son loves a curry too).
How often do you take a break and what do you do to relax?
Have the last few years made you re-assess how often you spend a bit of quality time with others, or has it gone the other way?
I’d love to know.
We have just released our latest free guide, which I am really excited about. It's called "A Day in the Life of" and will help you to recognise value in the daily tasks you carry out at work.?All you need to do is to click this link to receive a copy.
Have a great week.

2 年I’m not the best at it but I’m getting there. I am going to take almost 3 weeks off over the summer. To do it is taking some planning but I did a trial day with one of our team to cover my emails and that will mean I can switch off. It is so important and I really feel like I need a proper break soon.
