Does Hybrid Working Dilute Workplace Energy and Culture?
Perhaps a triggering question for some, but I believe there are multiple realities in life that are subjective to individual perspectives and many nuances.
In this Caleb Parker Show episode I'm joined by Dr. Toby Benzecry , Founder & CEO of Workplace Futures Group to discuss company culture, the impact workplace energy has on some companies, the changing needs of office customers, and how office landlords and operators are evolving to support the changing landscape of demand.
Toby says nothing trumps company culture, not even amazing workplaces.
But adds there is an energy created by people being together that contributes positively to company culture.
Do we need to be face to face every day?
Not necessarily. It depends.
Every company and every team is different. And some personalities and cultures thrive by being together in the same workplace.
But many companies today are empowering teams with flexible working, leading to lower utilisation. Therefore companies can reduce their office footprint and use the costs savings to afford better workplaces; aka: "flight to quality".
Relocation can serve as a catalyst for organizational change
Moving to better workplaces can have a significant impact on team energy and company culture, according to Toby's several years of research when completing his doctoral thesis.
Tap into the full episode to see why it goes beyond "flight to quality" (although that's important too)
What about the office landlords?
As customer demand for flexibility, service and plug-n-play workplaces takes, office landlords are responding. For owners who used to outsource Space-as-a-Service, the proliferation of flex office and coworking brands have become fierce competition.
The future (of under 10,000 SqFt requirements) is flexible.
And that puts pressure on the traditional office leasing business plan.
