How New Joiners Experienced Our Recruitment Process
What Is Candidate Experience?
Here at Linearity, candidates always come first. Whether they are users of our products or not, everyone matters here. But firstly, what is candidate experience?
The way our Senior Technical Recruiter ? Dan Matthews likes to describe candidate experience, is to think of a time when you tried out a new restaurant and the service was slow, the waiter/waitress didn’t come across as friendly or polite, or the food was not up to a good standard. Would you recommend anyone to eat at that restaurant? No. Would you eat there again? No. That is the same as candidate experience.
Candidate experience is the experience that everyone has with your company, be it from when they see your career page, to interviewing or receiving an offer. ANY interaction with your company is deemed as candidate experience.
What does Candidate experience mean to us at Linearity:
We aim to ensure that every one that is involved or interacts with our brand has a super positive candidate experience. Starting from the interaction of the LinkedIn page and website to interactions with our recruiters all the way to interviewing with our hiring managers.
To us, candidate experience means:
???? Quick/Regular communication
???Being authentic/be yourself
?????Listening and communicating effectively
?????Relaxed and open interviewing atmosphere
???Transparent/Clear Interview process
???Live & breathe our company values
???Valuing everyone's differences and individuality
Don’t just take our word for it, here is what some candidates who interviewed with us have to say…..
We Interviewed multiple candidates for various roles and levels that participated in Linearity’s interview process ??

“What was your impression of Linearity before Interviewing with us?”
???? Engineering Manager - “Linearity looks like a really interesting company with challenging problems that need to be solved, especially the RTC product that needs to be implemented, which is related to my expertise. Overall, really good products and Linearity has very smart people working for the company”
???? QA Engineer - “I hadn’t heard of Vectornator until the recruiter reached out to me. When I did my research, the layout of the website reminded me of an Apple product launch page, the features and the app were very cool and I wanted to learn more about it. The more I learned about the company the more I wanted to explore”
???? Lead iOS Developer - “I am a user of the product & this played a big part in looking at the open positions. The product shows a lot about the company, that they care about the users and are well integrated into iOS. I assumed the company had the same values and when I got to know the recruiter and the rest of the company, it was exactly a combination of this”
"How does Linearity’s Interview process compare to other Interview processes?"
???? Engineering Manager - “The first technical interview was different from other companies, the type of questions I was asked were more focused on Computer Science fundamentals instead of software and backend questions. The system design was different but it was more focused on the companies needs which is good for me, and the interviewers to evaluate my research in the target area”
???? QA Engineer - “It was a bit different to my current companies interview process, from online application > screening > Interview (tech test & competence) which is over 2 hours and very lengthy. Linearity’s was very good, it felt more like a conversation and it went 2 ways, I was asking questions and the interviewer was asking questions which I really enjoyed”.
???? Lead iOS Developer - “I liked the Linear process (no pun intended), I had other interviews which had 8 or 9 stages and this is way too much, 2 months of work to prepare and interview. Linearity’s interview was straight to the point with no surprises. Candidates will trust the company and feel safe.”
"Did you feel included in the interview process?"
???? Engineering Manager - “100%, in all 3 interviews with Linearity. I had the the opportunity to ask questions with all interviewers. I was given 20 minutes to ask questions, which was good. I managed to use 15 minutes of this time to get all my questions answered.
???? QA Engineer - “I would say yes. Talking to the manager about shared experience of tools and having a laugh, enjoying a nice conversation. I really enjoyed this. This felt guided with prompts. Even we were working in different timezones and Linearity worked around me. Either this interview process is as long or as long as it needs to be (working to my availability)”.
???? Lead iOS Developer - “Yes, absolutely. I can action an example. During my interview process, I made a mistake and that is a delicate moment in an interview, on one hand to recognise this mistake and that I don’t know the right answer. This manifested into what felt like a simple conversation between friends. I made a mistake, the interviewer explained the right answer and that was it. This made me feel like it was a safe environment and that you can make mistakes and this gave me a really good impression of Linearity.
