How New Book Went #1 on Amazon New Release Chart Within 48 Hours (With a Dead Email List)

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to work with a book publisher in the UK.
This publisher was preparing for a new book launch for one of his clients (named Peter), and needed to revive a dead email list in time for the launch.
Apparently, Peter had abandoned his email list right after launching his last book.
(Pro Tip -- as an online business owner, this is something you should not do. Never abandon your email list for whatever reason. If you do, your email list dies a natural death, and it will be hard to revive a dead list -- especially when you need to launch something new. Your email list doesn't exist just for product launches; you have to engage them consistently.)
After giving a good look at Peter's email list, I agreed to take on the project, and my objectives were to:
>>> re-engage the email list
>>> re-write the automated Welcome sequence to properly nurture new subscribers
>>> run a pre-launch sequence about the new book
>>> launch the new book with a promo sales series
>>> and post-launch to gather reviews from satisfied buyers
All of this to be completed within 5 weeks.
What we did...
1. First, I sent two re-engagement emails detailing the reason for Peter's disappearance and what he's been up to.

2. We monitored the email stats and segmented active subscribers who we continued to engage in step 3.
3. A quick pre-launch sequence to nurture the active subs about the upcoming new book and launch date.
4. Rewrote the Welcome series (for new subscribers) and included stories.
5. Launch new book with a solid and compelling promo sequence.
6. And lastly, post-launch sequence to gather reviews from early buyers.
End result...
After implementing this strategy, within 48 hours, the new book went #1 in the New Release chart on Amazon -- and my client was over the moon.
If you have got the right people in your email list, and you offer what they desire, you will make bank always.
