How a new AI tool is enhancing job matches between employers and candidates

Last week, we talked about how to utilize AI tools like ChatGPT to simplify and automate your daily tasks , freeing you up to focus on bigger projects and responsibilities. This week, we’re going to take a look at how AI is already working for you on job platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn.

Forbes senior contributor Jack Kelly recently interviewed Raj Mukherjee, the executive vice president and general manager at Indeed, about the company’s new tool, SmartSourcing . This implementation of AI aims to enhance job search features and assist users in finding new opportunities more easily.

So how does this AI technology from Indeed work? When a user uploads a résumé or completes their profile, the website’s tools parse information like skills, education level, experience and other keywords, allowing algorithms to easily analyze the data and match applicants with the most relevant opportunities available.

As you use the platform more, the job-matching platform gets more exact. And this benefits both job seekers and the companies that are hiring, as both can save time by avoiding unqualified applications. According to Mukherjee, Indeed’s AI-driven tech results in employers saving an average of 8.1 hours per week. “With instant matching and personalized recommendations, 95% of employers confirm that SmartSourcing greatly reduces time-to-hire,” he says.

Indeed is using AI in a variety of other ways, including a tool that helps candidates write better descriptions about their work experiences, smart messaging that allows employers to send personalized messages to applicants at scale, and a number of chatbots and virtual assistants to help guide users through the application process.

“Gone are the days of spray and pray for both sides of the equation,” Mukherjee said. “We know that sending an application to hundreds of jobs or sending messages to hundreds of mismatched candidates only prolongs the process of actually finding a job.”

Indeed is far from the only jobs website that is using artificial intelligence to aid in the job search and hiring process. In his full story, Kelly outlines how a number of other platforms, from LinkedIn to MoonHub, are leveraging the technology to make the user experience smoother.?

Practical Advice: What to keep in mind when negotiating your salary

Negotiating a salary can be an intimidating task for some job seekers, but it’s absolutely necessary to ensure that you are paid what you deserve and continue to grow financially in your career.

In his recent story, Forbes contributor Sho Dewan outlines a number of ideas to keep in mind when negotiating your salary at a new job, including one of the most helpful pieces of advice I have been given in my career: Don’t just negotiate on your base salary.

Yes, you want to push for as big of a number on your annual salary as possible, but Dewan writes that compensation goes beyond that one number. Many companies have a number of benefits packages that you can negotiate, such as hiring bonuses, stock options, vacation time and even remote work opportunities.?

The initial job offer window is one of the most crucial times to push for what you want. While you might not get everything you ask for, the negotiating period often results in at least some added bonus (salary or otherwise) to your compensation package.

AI did change the job search market! And I also want to share my experience with F1 Hire —this chrome extension works in LinkedIn, Indeed, google job, handshakes and Glassdoor, it looks into the job descriptions, and saves the job seeker's time. It does a great job in profile matching and sponsorship extraction. Highly recommended
