I Hate Making New Year’s Resolutions! Sounds familiar...
Here is my new year’s resolution... Yes, I said I hate making resolutions, but humor me... I want to open a gym so everyone who makes resolutions to be healthier or lose weight will have a place to go. In three weeks, I will shut down the gym and turn it into a restaurant. After three weeks when most of the people have given up on their resolution, will have a place to eat which is what they really want to do anyhow. Why? Their thinking did not change. Rodney Dangerfield said it best when his father nailed his other foot to the floor...
We often make the same decisions through quick goals, resolutions or emotional moments. We know there is an issue and find a quick resolution, not just at new year’s but throughout the year. Although the solution often seems obvious, it's not about creating a new resolution, new goals, or new direction. It is about creating a new way of thinking. This is not as obvious. Finding a quick resolution may make us feel good or accomplished for the short haul, changing your thinking creates true change which forces us to be honest and accountable.
Changing your thinking is more than just another motivational and inspirational saying. Speaking in positive clichés gives the perception of right thinking, often it is a mask hiding what is reality. I have found when people always speak in positive sayings and are always smiling with "Everything is Great!" is not always the reality. The reality is people are struggling underneath but are afraid to be honest about the way they are thinking. When thinking changes, people just don't hear what you are saying, they see what you are saying.

To begin the process of the right thinking, you need to:
1. Be Consistent. Think on things that will move you to where you want to be. This is an intentional action. This is a practice that not only happens when you are around positive emotion, it takes place when you are alone and in your quiet moments. What you say to yourself in your private moment, your self-talk, needs to be consistent with where you want to be.
2. Be Disciplined. Believe you can archive the things that will get you to where you want to be that will move you to where you want to be. As your thought become consistent, belief is the outcome. When your thoughts are consistent, even when you dont feel like it, you will begin to believe you are moving toward where you want to be. Discipline is doing what you know you need to do, when you need to do it, whether you feel like it or not.
3. Be Persistent. Persistency is discipline in action. Act on your beliefs even if you don't feel like it as if you have arrived where you want to be. Your activity reflects your beliefs. When you believe you are moving toward your destination, your activity will be consistent with what you are thinking.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results, Success is doing the same thing over and over expecting the same results. The key is not to make a new resolution every year, the key is to continue doing the same things that is getting you to where you want to be. Adjusting, tweaking, trying new things brings propels success. Making the same resolution every year expecting change is insanity,
The outcome will always be successful based on your thoughts. What you think will determine where you will end up. If you think you are a victor, you will be a victor. If you think you are a victim, you will be a victim. Although circumstances around you are out of your control, how you respond are in your control. Don't allow the circumstances around you dictate what you think. Where do you want to be? Where are you now? How are you going to get there? You have the power to determine your outcome.
