How to Never Give In: An Open Letter to Bloggers in Dire Need of Motivation

How to Never Give In: An Open Letter to Bloggers in Dire Need of Motivation

Let me guess...

You're sitting around your work desk at home, completely alone, tired and unsettled, a bit frustrated even, all because you did the one thing you promised yourself countless times you would never do.

"What's that you ask?"

Simple answer: Change.

And not in a "Thank You, Lord, change is coming" kind of way either. But the worst kind of change. The one where you can't even look yourself in the face in your own reflection on your desktop screen because you're not man (or woman) enough to.

So you look away.

"Why?"

Because it is too late now. The damage is done. You have committed the ultimate sin against yourself: you became the worst version of yourself; by giving in.

So you're angry.

And as the anger builds, so does the grief and that bitter taste of despair, until you are drowned in the loneliness and coldness of your own thoughts.

Terrifying, isn't it?

Viktor E. Frankl once said, "When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves."

Very true, yet profound words. I agree. But let's take them one step further with something Mahatma Gandhi also said. And here's what Gandhi said,

"In a gentle way, we can shake the world..."

Ladies and gentlemen! The world we know has been shaken under our feet. Finding the motivation you need as a blogger has escaped you and drifted into the great beyond...

So now you're silent, worried, and in need of a lifeline.

Here are eighteen (18) surefire ways to find motivation - even if you feel like you're at your lowest as a writer and blogger in 2022.

How to Never Give In: Eighteen (18) Inspiring Ways to Stay Motivated as a Blogger

  1. Really ask yourself if this is what you truly want - and keep your "Why" for doing it dear to you.
  2. Have an Accountability Partner - this is always helpful whenever the going gets tough (and it will.)
  3. Commit to one post per week (to lessen the overwhelm)
  4. Celebrate each Tiny win - it's the little things that count, after all
  5. Work smarter; Not harder | Always striving to be smarter for each upcoming year
  6. Desist with the comparison game - this is a long and empty road to nowhere
  7. Write about things that actually inspire you - your readers will respect you more for it
  8. Focus on consistency over volume - as vanity metrics such as quantity aren't always the BEST
  9. Do some research: Creatively craft (and write out) some post ideas
  10. Ask for advice: Speak to a Blogging Coach
  11. Be sure to block off time on your calendar
  12. Don't travel the blogging road alone: Make some Blogging friends
  13. Always remember to pick your blogging goals - for having a solid plan is better than no plan at all
  14. Never forget to take a writing break from time to time - this does the mind, and body good
  15. Look at other bloggers who inspire - for motivation
  16. Recall motivational memories - e.g. from those that your work has inspired, lives they've changed, to the present-day positive impacts you've created globally.
  17. Go read your blog comments. Search for ideas for your next post(s)!
  18. Give yourself some credit | Simply appreciate how far you've come as a blogger! :)

Something of note: "Blogging was not, is not, and will never be a sprint! It is a road often traveled by the many that richly rewards the few. But if you're committed, willing, and able to put in the work; you'll stand to reap many benefits." - Robert Lewin

Still Feeling Unsettled, Overwhelmed, and Lousy?

Here's the reality: "You don't need to reinvent the content curation wheel. (Neither of us does!) What you need to do instead is stay on top of it. By that I mean, having your focus on honing your skills as a writer, leader, online guide, and motivator that is capable of creatively delivering his/ hers message to an audience via the written word: blogging."

This period of time, where you get to sulk and roll around in the mud of your own pity party, was simply an opportunity for you to revisit your "why". You know, where you get to go back in time to rediscover why you got started on this journey in the first place. And to be fair, a trip down memory lane is really all some of us need to help us to get to that next stage in our development. (Yup, it's true!) I mean, blogging is about growth, after all, isn't it?

So don't allow this wave to pass you. The moment is right here, right now, so harness it. Allow blogging to be your friend: it is that staircase that you should use to take your writing game to the next level - to further grow your audience and inspire the masses.

So don't sit around wasting time! Simply ACT! Take action ... that's what matters most: finding the motivation that you need. Once you do, you'll be happy you did."
