???? Ask Andrew ? Answers to Your Questions
? Send your questions here!
This Week's Question is From ZB, in Johannesburg, South Africa:
“I am really struggling to get remote job opportunities. Is working remotely unattractive to recruiters?”
My Answer:
Hey ZB,
Hmm.
Based on the way you've phrased this, it sounds as though you perceive your desire to work remotely being detrimental to your application.
Yet typically the remote policy for any job is determined by the hiring company, and all applicants would have to agree to the same terms.
It wouldn't count against you individually unless you are applying for jobs that offer less flexibility than you are looking for; and asking them to make exceptions for you.
That's about as fruitless as the time I tried to convince Airbnb hosts with a 'no pets' policy to let me bring my dogs anywhere. While there were less options when I filtered only the places that were explicitly compatible with my needs, I did eventually find a lovely place where I and the pups were all happy.
The same principle is true for you: ignore jobs that don't explicitly offer the flexibility you need. Only apply for fully remote jobs.
As long as you are good at what you do, you'll find a decent one eventually. (Crossover is a good place to start).
Ask Andrew is a way for you to write in with a question and get a direct response from me. Focus on remote leadership, Crossover insights, and global remote work narratives - leave out technical and application queries!

11 个月Your test is just a total crap and this is no disrespect or some form of hatred. Especially coming from an organization that prioritize educational test without the basics of it. You can't set such test and then exclude the next or previous buttons so that applicants could attend to the ones they could and then come back to attempt those ones they left till their time is up. Kindly go and check how Shell Energy conduct their test. Thanks for the experience ????
