Using the Create, Commit, Close approach!
#Top Tip 1: CREATE
If you are going to spend the time (including travel) and cost involved in attending an expo, you want to make the most of this networking experience!
You should research the businesses and individuals that might be attending the expo via social media channels, local media listings/business directories, etc.
If you are doing your research, others will do the same. Have you signed up for your local media listings/business directories? Are you posting on social media about the upcoming expo you are attending?
Make a note of the key business contacts you want to build a relationship with and visit them first or book a one-one with them at the expo. This is a great opportunity to meet with your prospects face-to-face.
?
#Top Tip 2: COMMIT
You have committed to spend the day at the expo.
Set yourself a challenge – how many business cards can you get? Make the most of your one-one’s. Can you attend a speed networking session? Is there a workshop or seminar worth experiencing to increase your knowledge of a specific business topic?
In your conversations with prospects – if you had researched them before the expo, mention what you know about them/their business, this will begin a warm rapport. Ask more about your prospects, the more they speak the more you can match to their needs.
You now have the opportunity to highlight your business services/products. Talk about your benefits over features… what solution will it solve? What do your customers say about you (have testimonials/case studies prepared with you!).
What next? Exchange business cards and agree to follow up with each other.
?
#Top Tip 3: CLOSE
You have returned from the expo – make yourself a hot drink! But don’t delay, start connecting with the people you corresponded with at the expo straight away. Your checklist of actions should include:
领英推荐
·????????Connect with them on LinkedIn/other social media channels (include why you are connecting with them and where you met)
·????????Send a follow-up email, LinkedIn private message, or text, etc.
·????????Add their business card details to your CRM/database
·????????Check if they want to join your newsletter
·????????Engage with them on social media (like, comment, and share their posts)
·????????Ask for a follow-up meeting and go for the close!
?
Remember – people do remember what you say and do... Make sure you stay visible and communicate the full range of services your business offers.
Even if you feel there is not a return of investment straight away, be consistent, positive, and continue following up! A business will work with you when they have the need for your services/products.
