How to navigate your business when you have human emotions

How to navigate your business when you have human emotions

I've been the saddest I've been in years this week.

I'm going through a breakup. and is hard. Is one of those things that no matter how happens is always painful, and now I'm realizing that has a quite an impact to the nervous system in ways that I didn't realize before.

This could have been a problem before when I thought to be a good business person I have to show up in high energy and be perfect in my emotions. But the reality of things is that life is life and we are human.

We are going to move houses, countries, jobs, break up relationships, going through losses because is part of life (and pandemic times) and the human experience.

Talking about emotional intelligence and business looks like we should be perfect, happy all the time achieving great things. This is what I've been learning through working though a soul/heart perspecive.

Most of the time we are afraid of something in the entrepreneurial journey - fear of failure, impostor syndrome, fear of losing money, fear of what people is going to say when you start to show up. This is fear is not yours is a system that makes you believe that your value is measured in achievements.

  • We value ourselves as we achieve things and earn money and that's so dangerous (burnout) because the reality of things in life is not a straight line and how much money you earn says nothing to me about the value of the human being you are.
  • When you attached your value to the money you make you feel like a failure when a launch flopped, you feel like you didn't enough instead of understanding that everything ads up and you always building on top of your work. If you are consistent enough you'll see the fruits. it is like that, nature works like that. Give things a cycle, nothing is so straight line.
  • Try to be nonbinary about emotions meaning, don't look at emotions as good or bad. They are feelings we have. The other is just out thoughts, judgments, beliefs, and past experiences about the emotion.
  • You can feel the emotion in your body, a heart raising of excitement, a tight gut were is heart to eat, weak knees feeling, a knot in the throat. Those are the feelings acting on your body regulated by our nervous systems and hormones and so many cool things. If you can self-regulate you are sweet. You can feel them and let them go.
  • Self-regulation your nervous system to hold your emotions in a safe place were you can feel them can look like: a breathing practice, journaling, running with the intetion of let go, doing fascia workouts, herbal teas, Epson salt bath, supplements, cold water dipping, bach flower essences, movement and breathing combined together and grounding are the things that moved me through work through pain, show up and still hold a place for another human.

Well, here is what I have learned in life, business and long term friendships. Is all about our connection to the people we serve and how much this relationship holds.

Here are some questions to prompt you to that:

  • Are you building a business where the client is going to be disappointed because you are sad? or instead, they say, I understand what you are going through. Do you need sometime to sort yourself out? I can wait.
  • 'Is your business relationships hold that space for you to be you? yo be a real human being with real things happening to your life or do you feel like a role? the therapist, the entrepreneur, coach, healer, etc
  • The bottom question is where do you put all your value as a business owner/business owner on being always good, always busy, and always on top of your things as life doesn't change around you?

When we are in a space of always doing, pushing, hustling no matter what life throws your way. You are going to find yourself in a place of pressure,

pressure that time is too tight, an overwhelming schedule, a feeling of now being of let go to receive also from your people, your network, friends and family.

So the bottom line is this for this late article (because I promise LI that I was going to write twice a month) is that:

  • Is more than great to show up to business when you are sad, grieving, or going through a lifetime situation. If your client is human they should understand.
  • If you are showing up I see you, let's connect!
  • Please reach out, tell your story, people cares! yes they do. People behind the screen also when through life events.
  • And lately herbal teas, rest, movement, breathing, having friends, having a purpose, being able to voice your needs, ask for help, be open, people care.

Have a beautiful week and let's share being humans together, lets's build community, real relationships, and a real acknowledgment of the person that is behind the brand. We are people and people have all sorts of feelings, and I'm a sensitive one and I do feel them

And if you want me to help you to slow the hustle inside, to kill the root of the fear of doing business wrong or you are pivoting an offer, business, or purpose I can help you gain clarity. Let's connect. And I'll be in the middle of this and Ill I show up for you.
